Considering the material from the reading and the videos, please respond to the following:

  • Prices are often set to satisfy demand or to reflect the premium that consumers are willing to pay for a product or service. Some critics shudder, however, at the thought of $2 bottles of water, $150 running shoes, and $500 concert tickets. Should prices of any product or service reflect the value that consumers are willing to pay, or should they primarily reflect just the cost involved in producing the said product or service?
  • Many consumers pay a premium price for branded eyewear. How does the brand name influence the price and value
  • E-Commerce seems to be a popular method of distribution. Will this solve all problems in the future? What limitations does e-commerce have? Why has Amazon.com been so successful when so many other companies have struggled in this department?
  • Last summer Amazon acquired Whole Foods. What do you think the motivation was for this acquisition? What are your thoughts on how this will affect Whole Foods unique distribution strategy?
