Design

The ‘Lived Experiences of Adolescents with Learning Disabilities’ is a research study that has utilized the phenomenology design of qualitative research. The design is always used to identify a specific phenomenon while focusing on the subjective experiences of the target group under study. The phenomenological design is suitable for this study as the primary focus of the researchers was to understand the various underlying experiences of individuals with Learning Disabilities (LD) and how they deal with social and academic challenges.

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to be able to comprehensively describe the characteristics of the Learning Disorder in Adolescents. This study is aimed at understanding the general life structure of the people living with this condition in their adolescent years and how they deal with academic and social challenges.

Focus

The focus of this study has been on adolescents living with Learning Disabilities (LD). This study focuses on the subjective experiences relating to this condition. These are important factors that will positively contributes to the study outcomes because targeting a small group increases the chances of coming up with more precise results by minimizing the error window.

Method of Data Collection

The method of data collection for this research was conducted through interviews. During the study, four adolescents were selected for the interview and data collected from this process (Rosetti & Henderson, 2013). It is important to note that all of the participating adolescents in the study were living with Learning Disorder.

Method of Data Analysis

Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis was the method applied in the analysis of the data collected through the interviews. This analysis method is helpful in the provision of detailed observations of personal Learning Disorder experiences in adolescents. The significance of this method for this study is to produce personal accounts of LD in adolescents as they make sense of the condition.
