    Assignment: Applications of Graph Theory
Due Week 10 and worth 150 points

In 1736, a famous Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler (1707 – 1783) started the work in the area of Graph Theory through his successful attempt in solving the problem of “Seven Bridges of Konigsberg.” Graph Theory solved many problems in multiple fields (Chinese Postman Problem, DNA fragment assembly, and aircraft scheduling.) In Chemistry, Graph Theory is used in the study of molecules, construction of bonds in chemistry, and the study of atoms. In Biology, Graph Theory is used in the study of breeding patterns or tracking the spread of disease.

Write a three to five (3-5) page paper in which you:

    1. Choose two (2) applications for graph theory within your area of specialization (Networking, Security, Databases, Data Mining, Programming, etc.).
    2. Examine how these applications are being used in your specialization.
    3. Determine how graph theory has advanced the knowledge in your area of specialization.
    4. Conclude how you will apply graph theory in your area of specialization.
    5. Use at least three (3) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not quality as academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

    • This course requires use of new Strayer Writing Standards (SWS). The format is different than other Strayer University courses. Please take a moment to review the SWS documentation for details.
    • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow SWS or school-specific format. In-text citations must be used appropriately and have a corresponding reference entry. Each reference must have at least one in-text citation. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
    • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

    • Model relationships with graphs, functions, and trees.
    • Use technology and information resources to research issues in discrete math.
    • Write clearly and concisely about discrete math using proper writing mechanics.

  • What are the requirements for structuring a business as an S Corporation?
  • Discuss at least two advantages to structuring a business as an S Corporation
  • Explain how income from the S Corporation taxed; include in your discussion on taxation of S Corporation income, the forms (including their names and numbers) utilized in reporting income and paying tax to the IRS.

Discussion: Comparing Frameworks for Analyzing Organizations

Avedis Donabedian’s work generated a pivotal means of assessing organizational performance relative to structure, process, and outcomes. However, it is clearly not sufficient to view health care quality merely in terms of outcomes—the structures and processes that facilitate these outcomes are equally as important.

In this Discussion, you consider multiple frameworks that can be used to analyze an organization. As you proceed, consider how these frameworks allow you to examine the interplay of interdependent and related parts and processes that comprise the systems within an organization, as well as the arrangements or structures that connect these parts.

To prepare:

  • Investigate and reflect on the systems and structures of an organization with which you are familiar. Consider the following:
    • What is the reporting structure?
    • Who holds formal and informal authority?
    • How many layers of management are there between the frontline and the highest office-holders of the organization?
    • How are interdisciplinary teams organized?
    • How is communication facilitated?
    • How well integrated is decision making among clinical personnel and administrative professionals?
    • How are particular service lines organized?
    • Which departments, groups, and/or individuals within the organization are responsible for monitoring matters related to performance, such as quality and finances?
  • Select two of the following frameworks:
    • Learning organizations, presented in the Elkin, Haina, and Cone article
    • Complex adaptive systems (CAS), presented in the Nesse, Kutcher, Wood, and Rummans article
    • Clinical microsystems, presented in the Sabino, Friel, Deitrick, and Sales-Lopez article
    • Good to great, presented in the Geller article
    • The 5 Ps, presented in the ASHP Foundation article
  • Review the Learning Resources for each of the frameworks that you selected. Also conduct additional research to strengthen your understanding of how to use each framework to assess an organization.
  • Compare the two frameworks. How could each framework be used to identify opportunities to improve performance? In particular, how would you use each of these frameworks to analyze the organization that you have selected?

By Day 3

Post an analysis of the systems and structures of the organization you selected, sharing specific examples. Explain insights that you gained by comparing the two frameworks, and how each can be used to assess an organization, identify a need for improvement, and, ultimately, enhance the performance of an organization.

Read a selection of your colleagues’ responses.

2 sections total of 1000 words according to ra major assignment and rip project

section 1 Metacognitive Checkpoint #6: Ownership and Takeaways (about 500 words)

Please Read RA and RIP before actual writing

In a response of at least 500 words, answer the questions below. You may include multimodal features in this response if you’d like.

1) How have I met the 39B course learning outcomes?

Describe what you have learned in WR 39B. How have you learned to read texts critically, and with productive attention to rhetorical situation and genre? How have you learned to write rhetorically, letting genre, purpose, audience, and context shape your choices? How have you learned to develop arguments and analysis, integrate sources meaningfully, and organize your ideas? How have you learned to improve your writing habits, especially in the invention, drafting, and revision stages? How have you learned to prioritize feedback and participate in our class’s academic discourse community?

Maybe you haven’t learned everything perfectly or equally well. Which skills are you strongest in and which skills do you still struggle with?

And what skills will you take with you into your future classes?

2) How did I take ownership over my writing process?

Describe the way(s) in which you’ve taken charge of your own learning this quarter.
Have you come to office hours? Done extra work to improve your writing that wasn’t asked of you? Spent time at the Writing Center or the Peer Tutors? Attended the WR 39B Writing Studio? Done research you didn’t have to do? Written extra drafts of papers? Something else?

Maybe you haven’t taken such charge of your own learning this quarter, and you want to discuss what you’d do differently next time. What opportunities did you miss this quarter to take ownership over your writing and how do you know they were missed opportunities?

In general, how have the actions you’ve taken helped to improve your writing process, and your writing itself? Be brave and be honest.

3) How did I manage challenges this quarter?

Maybe this quarter hasn’t gone perfectly for you. That’s all right–it’s part of growing as a student, a person, and a writer. What difficulties have you had this quarter with your work, your writing, your ability to keep up with things, etc? Most importantly: How did (or how will) you overcome these problems? Describe your game plan and specific, concrete steps you took to overcome these difficulties. Be specific, be searching, and be honest. (This is something many portfolios forget to address– it gives you the chance to “spin” failures and issues in a positive way and use them to your advantage, so don’t neglect this chance!)

Section 2 Portfolio Introduction Rough Draft (about 500 words)

Please read all files before actual writing

There is a simple Final Portfolio Introduction!!!!!!! extremely important

Look back through all the writing you’ve done in WR39B so far. For each item below, choose a piece of writing that you can analyze as an example in your portfolio introduction.

As you work your way through the list, you should find that you can use a few pieces of writing to discuss multiple aspects of your writing process. These examples of your writing will be most useful for your portfolio introduction.

  • A piece of writing that illustrates how you follow a specific convention of apocalyptic writing to achieve a specific purpose
  • A piece of writing that illustrates how you subvert a specific convention of apocalyptic writing to achieve a specific purpose
  • A piece of writing that illustrates how you adopt the conventions of any genre (not apocalyptic writing) to achieve a specific purpose
  • A piece of writing that illustrates your understanding of academic writing conventions

Your (ongoing) mastery of specific writing skills (choose at least two):

  • A piece of writing that illustrates your ability to generate insightful claims
  • A piece of writing that illustrates your ability to analyze a text
  • A piece of writing that illustrates your ability to organize an argument effectively
  • A piece of writing that illustrates your ability to introduce and integrate sources effectively
  • A piece of writing that illustrates your ability to develop a paragraph effectively, or transition effectively between paragraphs
  • A piece of writing that illustrates your ability to craft an effective sentence or choose precise, appropriate words
  • A piece of writing that illustrates your struggle with a specific writing skill

Your writing process (choose at least two):

  • A piece of writing that illustrates your unique voice as a writer
  • A piece of writing that illustrates your note-taking strategies
  • A piece of writing that illustrates your prewriting strategies
  • A piece of writing that illustrates your drafting strategies

Your revision process (choose at least two):

  • Two pieces of writing that illustrate a specific aspect of your writing before and after revision
  • Feedback from a peer + a piece of writing that illustrates how you revised afterward

explore how variable of your choice relating to race ethnicity with the option of including gender or class facilitates or impedes academic achievement in high school

This research project invites you to better understand how racial/ethnic identity might affect educational achievement. Your assignment is to prepare a RESEARCH PROSPECTUS as if you were to engage in a year-long, ethnographic research project in Oakland Technical High School (you will not do the actual research).

Prompt: your research proposal will explore how (variable of your choice) relating to race/ethnicity (with the option of including gender or class) facilitates or impedes academic achievement in high school.

Your final research prospectus should be between 1900 and 2200 words (6-7 pages) typed and double-spaced. Points will be deducted from longer or shorter essays. The final version of this project is due Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Remember that the research prospectus reflects your individual work. If you worked well with other students when gathering scholarly articles for the literature review, you are welcome to peer edit each other’s papers, but the final research prospectus must be your own work. I’ve included a link to the research prospectus criteria above. You can also find this file in the Research Prospectus module.

There are basic steps common to every research proposal.

1) Introduction: present your research question and tell us why it is important.

2) Literature Review (the longest section): tell us what other scholars have said about your research question. It would be an excellent strategy to point out an unanswered question in the existing research that you hope your research will address.

3) Methodology: tell us how you will gather your data to answer your research question and why this is an effective strategy for finding answers to your research question.

4) Conclusion: explain why your research question is significant. Note that because you have not yet conducted your research, you cannot answer your research question, but you can reiterate the importance of your research question, (i.e., why we should want to find an answer to your question–or, if you were submitting this proposal to a grant-giving agency, why they should fund your research!).

agile project management methods

As explained in your textbook, the general Agile approach to project management has been realized by at least these four methodologies: SCRUM, XP, Crystal Family, and Kanban. Using the Internet and the Ashford Library, along with Tables 1.3 and 1.4 in your textbook, research the SCRUM method. Then, compare and contrast it with one of the other three methods (XP, Crystal Family, or Kanban). Finally, provide an example or a scenario of how each method could be applied in a previous or current working environment. Your initial post must be a minimum of 300 words.
