Russian Culture

We have been focused on national and cultural differences and how they influence economic and business values in this unit. The case study, “Russian Culture,” can be found on page 127 of the course textbook. You will be required to read the case study and answer the following questions.

  1. Discuss what shaped that country’s culture.
  2. Compare and contrast Russia and the United States using Hofstede’s four original cultural dimensions: power distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualism versus collectivism, and masculinity versus femininity.
  3. Explain how these differences between Russia and the United States may impact the business activity of an American organization positioned in Russia.
  4. Discuss a training development plan for American employees who are relocating to Russia.

Your paper needs to be at least five full pages in length excluding the title and reference pages. You must include at least four sources in your assignment. One source can be the course textbook. The other sources should be from the CSU Online Library. The paper must be in APA format, include a title/cover page, in-text citations, and a properly formatted references section.

Business case: superior engineering in Texas

In Chapter 8 of your textbook, read the case study “Business Case: Superior Engineering in Texas: Stay or Go?”

After reading the case study, address the following questions in a minimum of three pages:

  • 1. Does Superior fit the definition of a small business or an entrepreneurial venture? Please explain.
  • 2. Reconcile the executive team’s concerns regarding Texas’s poor performance with Figures 1–3 in the case. 
  • 3. Complete a vertical analysis for both Superior without the Texas SBU and for the Texas SBU as a separate analysis.
  • 4. Why has Texas struggled to be profitable? 
  • 5. What does a vertical analysis of Superior’s financials suggest about the Texas operation versus Superior as a whole?
  • 6. What are your recommendations for Superior and the Texas operation? Should the Texas operation be discontinued? Why, or why not? 7. Based on your answer, describe how you would handle the human resource management (HRM) decisions related to your decision to keep or discontinue the Texas operation. Summarize how your analysis impacts HR activities.

In your analysis, you must propose one entrepreneurial action or solution (a nontraditional solution) that would benefit the company.

Conclude your case study by answering the following question from a general business perspective (not focused on the Superior Engineering case). This part of your paper should be at least one page in length.

  • How can the information on the financial statements help you make better decisions regarding human resource (HR) planning for a small business?

Be sure to use subheadings in your paper as opposed to a question-answer format.

Your complete paper should be at least four pages in length, not counting the title or reference pages. References should include your eTextbook and a minimum of two additional credible sources. Adhere to APA Style when constructing this assignment, including in-text citations and references for all sources that are used. Please note that no abstract is needed.

George Floyd was killed by officer Derek Chauvin on May 25, 2020, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Floyd’s death was captured by a witness using a cell phone. Most people only reflect upon the facts and circumstances of Mr. Floyd’s death, but there are few events in modern history as impactful to both the criminal justice system and to society as a whole. George Floyd’s murder became an international sensation. Thousands around the world protested George Floyd’s death in global display of solidarity.

Derek Chauvin was charged with, and convicted of, three separate homicide counts for George Floyd’s death. The social justice issues, criminal justice issues, and impacts of this case are still being felt in society today and will be for years to come. Fully analyzing the impact of this case would be very daunting, but addressing some of the major issues provides a unique look into the broad spectrum of criminal justice issues and their influences. Your final written assignment for the course requires you to look at a specific aspect of the Floyd case and assess various viewpoints and consequences. Your paper needs to be supported by at least five scholarly or credible sources which can be utilized from the classroom or through independent research.

In your paper,

  • Explain the facts of George Floyd’s arrest and death (e.g., briefly, what was he arrested for; how many police officers were on scene, facts of his passing, etc.).
  • Summarize a brief, professional history about the lead officer, Derek Chauvin.
  • Analyze the social unrest that occurred after Floyd’s death.
    • Support the analysis with scholarly or credible sources that explain the scale of the protests, specifically identifying cities and the impacts to areas that experienced civil unrest.
  • Analyze in detail how this case did not violate Amendment V’s prohibition against double jeopardy.
  • Summarize three major provisions of your choosing found in the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2021.
  • Evaluate the civil settlement received by the Floyd family from the City of Minneapolis as a result of the actions of police officer Chauvin.
    • Identify whether this was a matter of state or federal law, and why.
  • Identify your opinion about the outcome of the Chauvin trial and the Floyd family settlement.
