Examine the Current United States Supreme Court’s Majority View Regarding Police Behavior

Prior to beginning this journal, read:

Your journal assignment this week will examine the current U.S. Supreme Court’s views on police behaviors. The Supreme Court cannot make policies like a police agency or write laws to regulate police behaviors. The Court is limited to using Opinions in cases brought before it to either sanction or deny police behaviors that come in conflict with the Constitution. Drawing from the website, Supreme Court Sides with Police Officers in Two Qualified Immunity Cases, and the article, “Qualified Immunity: Both Sides of the Debate,” create a two to three-page reflection about the Supreme Court’s current views toward police actions. Predict how this Court will handle policing issues over the next decade. You may also draw from the cases in the recommended resources section this week. Additionally,

  • The Journal must be written grammatically correct and be two to three double-spaced pages (500 to 750 words).
  • Use at least one scholarly source besides the course text and materials provided in the classroom.
