There are two parts to this assignment: You will begin with a brief essay and segway into a case study.

 

Part 1: In essay format, address the following:

 

  • What are the benefits and costs related to owning a small business?
  • What is the connection between operational best practices and managerial knowledge?
  • Discuss the key success factors that would support the success of a small business

Part 2: In Chapter 14 of your textbook, read the case study, “Family Matters.” (I will email this info.) Analyze the following questions:

 

  • What is the most immediate problem for Larry Cohen, the president of Accurate Perforating?
  • Describe Accurate Perforating’s current business model.
  • Describe a new business model using business theories and concepts that you believe would improve Accurate Perforating’s profitability.
  • To support the success of this new business model, what knowledge, skills, and abilities are needed from management?
  • What are your recommendations for keeping or replacing Aaron Kamins as the chief executive officer (CEO)?
  • Create one human resource (HR) policy that would support the growth of this business.
  • Does your new business model solve the problem that you identified as the most immediate problem?
  • What other actions would you recommend for this company?

The essay part of this assignment must be two pages, and the case study part must be three pages in length. The title and reference pages do not count toward this requirement. Be sure to use subheadings in your assignment as opposed to a question-answer format.

Support this entire assignment with references that include your eTextbook and a minimum of four additional credible sources. Two of the external sources must come from the CSU Online Library. Adhere to APA Style when constructing this assignment, including in-text citations and references for all sources that are used. Please note that no abstract is needed.
