Job Description-Assignment

Chapter # 6

60 Points

You are responsible for developing a job description and three (3) interview questions to be used to fill the position. The agency is an internationally based, for-profit, counseling agency. A significant portion of the client population served by the agency is multi-cultural individuals with disabilities. The agency is located in a metropolitan area in Oklahoma.

Due to the size of the community, agency, and population served, all employees are required to provide direct client services when needed. The Executive Director has decided to take a position with the agency overseas.  First, considering the above information, develop a job description for the Executive Director position.  The following information is the minimum which must be included in your job description:

·       Title

·       Two agency goals

·       Summary of Position

·       Detailed Job Duties/Responsibilities.

·       Identify credential(s) required and/or preferred

·       Education required and/or preferred

·       Identify organizational and managerial skill set(s) required and preferred

·       Work experience required and/or preferred

This section is worth 25 points.

Second, design three (3) interview questions that could be used to determine an individual’s ability to perform the job as you stated. Be aware that basic, introductory interview questions will not be accepted as meeting this requirement. You are trying to ascertain ‘fitness’, suitability, and readiness for the position.

I have included a rubric with point values under the rubric tab for your consideration. In addition, I would encourage a review and incorporation of prior class materials learned to complete this activity successfully. The activity is valued at a total of 60 points.

  • How will these changes impact the way organizations function?
  • How will HR practices change staffing, rewarding, employee relations, communication, performance management, training and development, and technology? Within that discussion, point out current best practices that may require modification as well as the most appropriate modifications.
  • What are the legal and ethical implications of change?
  • How should current employees and leaders begin to prepare for this change? Prepare a change management plan that includes strategies to communicate relevant information to employees.

Write an 8–10-page executive report in Word format. Support your predictions and suggestions with scholarly resources and empirical evidence. The executive report should include a cover letter, a title page, a reference page, and sections addressing the topics listed. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

The workplace is constantly changing. As companies grow on a global level, their needs change, as do the needs of employees. Researchers and statisticians often attempt to predict how things will change.

You are the Director of HR for a small (120 employee), family owned company that provides cleaning services to local businesses.

The leaders of this company met to discuss the future state of the organization.  It was disclosed that revenues have been on a steady decline for the past three consecutive quarters.  Business is down and during this time period, it has become common to reduce employee hours and cancel shifts.  This has caused a number of problems with employees, given that the “operations” jobs are hourly.  The owner is concerned because of the large amount of employee fixed costs (i.e. insurance, paid time off, etc) and has come to the conclusion that in order to keep the company operational, the number of staff will need to be reduced by 20%.  This is the first time in the company’s history that this type of action will need to be taken and the owner is looking to you for advice as to how to handle this reduction in force.

Prepare a response that addresses the following:

·       How the reductions will be determined (seniority based system vs. performance based)?

·       Any type of communication that needs to occur prior, during and after the reduction.

·       Any other procedural items that need to be considered (i.e. severance, outplacement assistance, legal issues, security, etc.).

I need a  response/recommendations to the owner

Doesn’t have to  be formal, and needs to be APA format like this:

APA

The most common problem is typically with directly quoted material.  When you quote directly (under 40 words), you need to include quotation marks around the passage(s) used, along with the author’s last name, date of publication and page number (or “n.p.” for “no page”).  If the passage is over 40 words it is indented vs. quotation marks, the other citation information is the same.  When you paraphrase material or have used it as a general reference, this means it is in your words.  The correct method of citation is just the author’s last name an date of publication.

Examples:

Direct Quote:  “The ADA provides that qualified individuals with disabilities may not be discriminated against” (Bernardin, 2013, p.86)

Paraphrased: The Americans with Disability Act was passed in 1990, which essentially extends the concept of equal employment to those that have disabilities (Bernardin, 2013).

This may seem like a small difference, however in academia, it is extremely important to not only give credit where credit is due, but also to clearly distinguish your words from someone else’s.

the “rule of thumb” in terms of resources is that approximately 80% of  any given assignment, paper, case study, etc should be authored by you with resources (paraphrased or directly quoted) accounting for the remaining 20%.

Review the variety of graphic representations of servant leadership models and other leadership/management models listed below. You may search online for others as well. As you review the models, consider what you think are the most significant differences between servant leadership models and other models. Then either create your own graphic to visually represent your understanding of servant leadership or revise one of the existing graphics so that it better represents your understanding. If you revise an existing model, be sure to credit your original source.

Once you have created your model, compose a brief analysis (250 words) that addresses the following:

  1. What are the most significant differences between servant leadership models and other models?
  2. Define the paradox of servant leadership and explain where you see this paradox present in your own representation.
  3. Based on your understanding of effective leadership, how do you think your representation captures those qualities or characteristics?

APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

You are not required to submit this assignment to Turnitin.
