radio station mgmnt presentation paper

Major Project for JRN4401-Managing an actual media outlet

Wiregrassstudentradio.com is a Troy University official student-run on-line

radio station. It”broadcasts”from noon till midnight weekdays(central

time). It needs to raise about$200 a month to meet its expenses, license fees,

etc. This puts it in competition for advertising dollars with every other media

outlet in Pike County, including the Troy Messenger,Troy Cablevision

Channel 52,and WTBF-AM(1947)and WTBF-FM(1997),the only

commercial stations in Pike County.

WTBF-AM is a”local” station, playing primarily to the Troy population of

approx.15,000 and to a lesser extent, Pike County, with about the same

number or residents.

WTBF-FM is an”oldies”station,with older demographics(35-65),and is

more local than most but also carries news and information to appeal to the

entire Wiregrass, which their signal covers well.

Troy Messenger is the only local newspaper, and it is published five days a

week. They skip Monday and Sunday.

1. Group One is managing wiregrassstudentradio.com.What do we play in

order to attract our core audience, how much are commercials, and what can

Do we do to promote it?

2. Group Two gets to be the new owners of WTBF-AM/FM. How do we

maintain the current level of service and profit against this new upstart?

What do we play, and why?How do we promote? What do we charge?

3. Group Three gets to be the new owners of the Troy Messenger.

4. Group Four gets to start a new TV station in Pike County.

You will be a part of any group(you choose).

As a class, you decide on whether you want a traditional broadcast radio station or strictly an on-Line station. Then you decide on the target audience, which informs your decision about programming. You will also set advertising rates to pay for everything, and create promotions to let everyone know about your new station. Everyone gets an assignment on the role they will play in this project: format implementation(music?talk?live?automation?hybrid?);set the cost of advertising and justifying it; deciding what to do about news or sports;create a promotion to publicize that a new station has arrived.

This is a class project. Everyone should play a role. Decided Nov.14:target demographic:18-30.Format:Fun Jack.Online station only,60 hours a

week,$200 monthly expenses for licensing fees and streaming software.

When you decide to operate a broadcast station, you must first decide several things:

Who can we get to listen to(or watch)our station? (what demographics will we serve?)

What will we play on our station? What format will we choose(the overall type of shows)

How much news or sports will we use and when?

Will we choose a live operation,automation,a combination(or hybrid)of the two,or voice-tracking?

What will be the style and feel of the station?

This is the original information on our class modules. Our group has 3 members. You can select any group as you want within the groups given above for every one of us.

need a postcard actual postcard front and back

Phase 4: Final Report & Postcard Submission

As you have been building each section of the project and fine-tuning it based on the feedback you have received during the semester, it’s now time to put your plan and promotion together into final report.

Here is how you will be evaluated.

Your final report should include the following:

  1. An Executive Summary the gives a brief overview summarizing the challenges facing the zoo and briefly explains each part of your plan.
  2. SWOT Analysis
  3. Environmental Scan
  4. Recommended Promotion Strategy using a postcard campaign. Your Recommended Promotion Strategy must include the following:
      1. the target market segment;
      2. the marketing message;
      3. the estimated cost of printing, acquiring target market lists, and mailing the postcard;
      4. your projections showing how you expect the campaign to perform;
      5. and how you will track the results of the campaign to determine if it was successful;
  5. Your sample postcard promoting the zoo that you would propose sending with the goal of increasing membership.

designing a powerpoint presentation

Designing a PowerPoint Presentation

DMT

Successful Preparation is the Basis for a Successful Presentation

Have you ever had to sit through a boring presentation? What made it boring? Did the person use visual aids? Most people learn and remember best when information is introduced by both audio and visual channels. That means that when you’re the one presenting information, you want to both tell your audience and show your audience the important points.

For example, if you are training employees on a new piece of equipment, having them look at a series of steps on a piece of paper probably won’t result in many of them remembering those steps. If instead you show them a diagram with each step, they’re more likely to understand and remember what you talk about.

A good presentation takes planning. Before creating your presentation, you should:

  • Determine the purpose of the project
  • Analyze your audience
  • Gather possible content
  • Determine what content to present to your audienceMind Map

detailed steps for planning a presentation.

Before opening PowerPoint, create an outline for your presentation. If you’re not comfortable with outline format, you could instead use a mind map like the one shown here, or another type of organizer. The goal is to determine the theme of your presentation, and define the main points so you have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Lack of organization will make it difficult for you to get through your presentation and will make it tough for the audience to follow along.

The most important thing to remember is that PowerPoint is a visual aid. It is
NOT a presentation in itself. For that reason, your PowerPoint slide show shouldn’t include every word you’re going to say. Keeping in mind that it is a
visual aid, figure out what the truly important points of your presentation are, and then determine how to display them on your slides to help people remember them.

This is where your outline will be helpful. The outline should include the most important points as headers and/or subheadings. These are the items that should appear on your slides. Other items to include are useful visuals, such as diagrams or charts. You want pictures that either illustrate the important points or at least draw attention to them. Once you’ve determined what these important points are, you’re ready to start working in PowerPoint.

write a total of 6 pages 3 for one essay and 3 for another keep essays in one paper

The first essay, 3 pages.

1. Offer an analysis of the causes of the Great Depression and assess the effectiveness of Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal programs in dealing with the economic crisis. Give examples of New Deal programs and how they were intended to provide either relief or recovery from the Great Depression. Why did some critics on the political Left, such as Senator Huey Long of Louisiana, criticize Roosevelt? Why did those on the political Right criticize him? What is your overall assessment of the New Deal and of Roosevelt’s response? How did the tremendous popularity of both President and Mrs. Roosevelt aid President Roosevelt’s political objectives?

The second essay, 3 pages.

2. Offer a history of the African-American Civil Rights Movement(s) from 1954 through 1972. As you develop your essay, address such issues as school desegregation, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the Civil Rights Bills of 1957 and 1960, disenchantment with reform within the African-American community, and the busing controversy. Pay particular attention to the contributions of both Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X to the Civil Rights Movement(s). What is the “ethical basis” (i.e. “just law” versus “unjust law”) of King’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail” and how does Malcolm X support his arguments in “The Black Revolution Speeches”? Also, compare the writing/speaking styles of the two men. How do each man’s personal and educational backgrounds and linguistic styles differ?

asthma and the environment

In 2011, the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC), a global epidemiological research program established to investigate asthma in children, released The Global Asthma Report 2011 in conjunction with the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease. ISAAC conducted a 20-year global study on childhood asthma and discovered that the overall percentage of children and adolescents reported to have ever had asthma increased significantly, which might be the result of more community awareness about asthma and advances in medical practices and diagnoses. Yet, the study also found there were multiple variations in the triggers for asthma (The Global Asthma Report, 2011).

Environmental triggers for asthma include dust mites, mold and mildew, wood burning stoves, and the ozone (Cabana, Slish, Lewis, Brown, Nan, Lin, & Clark, 2004). While there may be a number of triggers to exacerbate symptoms and cause an asthma attack, researchers have been unable to identify a single environmental factor as the cause of asthma. Reflecting on the prevalence of asthma cases in children and adolescents, do you consider increases to be a result of environmental factors or advances in medical practices and diagnoses?

With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 4

1) your position on whether the increased prevalence of asthma is due to environmental factors or advances in medical practices and diagnoses and

2) explain why.

3) Support your position with the Learning Resources and other current literature. Then,

4) explain how you might educate parents/guardians on this subject and

5) provide two examples to support your response.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources.

create a presentation on social cognition 1

Your task this week is to prepare a PowerPoint presentation on the topic of social cognition, or more specifically, how we think about the social world around us, and why we do so. The audience for this presentation is an undergraduate social psychology course. Be sure to include the following in your presentation:

  1. Provide a description and overview of social cognition in your own words.
  2. Explain briefly what heuristics are and why we use them.
  3. Describe the required error in thinking of the ‘fundamental attribution error’, and then select three more common errors from the list below (if you find one that is not on the list and want to use it – reach out to your professor for approval):
    • Framing
    • Priming
    • Self-serving biases
    • Self-justification
    • Change blindness
    • Blaming the victim
    • Belief in a just world
    • Unrealistic optimism
    • Automatic believing
    • Self-fulfilling prophecy
    • Representativeness
    • Availability
    • Anchoring
    • Stereotypes
  4. Define each of the three errors that you have selected above, in addition to the required fundamental attribution error (a total of four errors). Then, using the information which you have located through your research, explain what leads to these errors in thinking, and why they occur. Describe how each of these errors distorts reality as a protective mechanism, and how these errors can, in some instances, be viewed as beneficial or helpful to the self-esteem of the individual. Provide an example of each type of error from the recent news media, and describe how this error distorts reality to protect an individual’s self-esteem in some way. In your response, be sure to explain your answer fully to illustrate your thorough understanding of each error.
  5. Conclude with an analysis of how the culture of an individual may or may not cause this error to occur more frequently, along with at least one strategy or tip for preventing each type of error in thinking (based on the recommendations within the scholarly research). Describe how this strategy can be used to prevent or remedy this type of error in thinking about the social world around us, and why this may be helpful to the individual when interacting with others. Support these recommendations with scholarly research citations throughout your presentation.

Include at least five references from peer-reviewed journals. Other scholarly resources may be used as appropriate.

Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as speaker notes for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists.

Length: 12-15 slides (with a separate reference slide)

Notes Length: 200-350 words for each slide

Create a professional presentation incorporating appropriate animations, transitions, graphics, and speaker notes. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists. Be sure to add a reference slide or transition for all the references you use. Your presentation should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your paper should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards. Be sure to adhere to Northcentral University’s Academic Integrity Policy.
