Qualitative Research Article Critique

For this assignment you will choose a qualitative research article, I recommend you find something that is interesting to you. The article should be published within the last five years, if you find a good article older than five years I can review it and you may potentially use the article. Please get approval for your qualitative article of choice from me before beginning your critique. Please follow the rubric to critique the article. Please look at the longer description on the rubric. Your critique of qualitative research will be different than a quantitative research critique, you will be looking for different things. You will be identifying key elements of qualitative research as well as appraising the trustworthiness of the study. Your critique should be 3-5 pages in length. Please use APA format. Please cite your resources, I will be using your citation to look up your articles so you will not need to submit a copy of the article to me.

Review Chapter 7 in The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health report provided in the Learning Resources. Focus on the information in Box 7.3, “Research Priorities for Transforming Nursing Leadership.” Select one of the research priorities listed in Box 7.3 that is of particular interest to you and applicable to your career interests. Consider the benefits and challenges of researching and addressing this priority in nursing. Using the Walden library, identify two to three current articles that address your selected research priority. Consider the current state of research efforts on this priority. Reflect on how the research findings for your area of priority impact nurses as leaders in organizations and health care reform. Why is research on this priority important?

As you build your project/presentation, be sure to provide the evidence/research in the literature that supports your evidence based PRIMARY LEVEL OF PREVENTION intervention. Provide the citation on the slide of your interventions that demonstrates the evidence. For example, education is not a solution unless you have research evidence that demonstrates that it solves your identified problem.  I look forward to all the great ideas you each have for solutions to your topics.

Tips for creating the powerpoint:

1.  Bullet points only, no complete sentences

2.  Do not use first person or vague pronouns

3.  Goals need to be outcomes focused on a pre/post measure of change related to your interventions

4.  Use pictures on the slides

You all have clearly discussed interventions at the community and system levels. How does this presentation on the web of causation help to expand on the complexity of your population?

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT

Answer the following questions as you develop your evidence-based, culturally appropriate intervention for your community:

What health issue, problem, or disparity in health outcomes is of concern to you as a scholar practitioner in your community? What gaps in knowledge and care do you see as possible causes for the health issue? What does the health data tell you about the health issue? What does the literature tell you about the health issue? How can you learn about the health issue and about possible solutions from the viewpoint of families, community as a whole, and health professionals in your community? What evidence is there to support your proposal? What is one avenue you could advocate for improved health outcomes and know when a change has taken place?

Suggestions for the Project

Each week’s activities are geared to help you move along with your proposal. Use this time well and utilize some aspect of discussion and assignments in this course (e.g. windshield survey) to support your proposal as well. Read about the whole project before you start.

How do the sampling methods and sample sizes vary for the different types of quantitative and qualitative research? Using your research questions (qualitative and quantitative), what sampling method would you use to conduct your study? Why? How would you determine the sample type and size?

Leadership week 2 discussion

Explain the difference between a nursing theory and a nursing model.

research week 9

1- Propose a research question related to your potential research project that would require a qualitative research approach. Select the best qualitative method that could answer the research question proposed? What are the strengths and weaknesses of that method?

2-Identify a practice issue that would benefit from utilizing a mixed methods approach. Discuss how the quantitative and qualitative data would complement one another and add strength to the study. Discuss the challenges that you might encounter in using a mixed methods approach. Support your discussion using current mixed methods research articles.
