                                          Leadership Journal: Purpose

Journaling provides a valuable tool for recording, reflecting on, and reviewing your learning. This approach provides an opportunity for you to “connect the dots” and observe the relationships between and among activities, interactions, and outcomes.

Unlike a personal journal of thoughts and feelings, this Leadership Journal is a record of your activities, assessments, and learning related to this academic experience.

Journal entries should include a record of the number of hours spent with your nurse leader each week.

Write a journal entry of 1000-1,500 words on the subject of purpose, including the following:

1. Provide observations and thoughts on the activities in Weeks 5-6.

2. Describe how your nurse leader’s leadership style affects the people the nurse leads. Do staff members express feelings of support and helpfulness? Are there examples of leading rather than dictating? Did the leader say or do things designed to “build up” staff or were there missed opportunities?

3. Reflect on at least two things you learned from the “Issue of Rule” video

APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

Statistical application and the interpretation of data is important in health care. In a 750-1,000 word paper, discuss the significance of statistical application in health care. Include the following: Describe the application of statistics in health care. Specifically discuss its significance to quality, safety, health promotion, and leadership. Consider your specialty area which is geriatrics,   and how you utilize statistical knowledge. Discuss how you obtain statistical data, how statistical knowledge is used in day-to-day operations and how you apply it or use it in decision making.

Three peer-reviewed, scholarly or professional references are required.

As a Healthcare Administrator in a Pediatric department,  list and explain three issues or professional challenges that you might face in your capacity as an allied health professional. (In one paragraph.) 

 In another paragraph, explain what resources would you use within the organization of your employment to help you solve these issues? What resources would you use within the organization of your employment to help you solve these issues?

Write an argumentative research paper on a managed care-related topic, assumption or myth; about social media and health education thoroughly explaining what it is, why it’s important, and how it fundamentally impacts the managed care system today. You will gather evidence on present a well-reasoned argument or debatable issue. The goal of an argumentative paper is to show that your perspective is valid. You are to form reasons, draw conclusions and apply them to your findings. The purpose is not to completely prove your point, but to convince readers, with your evidence, that your argument or position has merit.

An original research paper with a body of 6-8 pages. In general, your paper should consist of the following pages:

Title Page – captivating title, your name, title of the course, date

Body – 6-8 pages of introduction, background on your topic, research support, personal evaluation, strong conclusion. Body should be organized with a minimum of the following titles Introduction Thesis or Position Reasons Objections Support of Responses Conclusion

References Cited page – in APA format. 5 sources 

 

Prepare this assignment as a 1,500-1,750 word paper using the instructor feedback from the previous course assignments and the guidelines below.

PICOT Question 

Revise the PICOT question you wrote in the Topic 1 assignment using the feedback you received from your instructor.(assignment 1 is attached)

The final PICOT question will provide a framework for your capstone project (the project students must complete during their final course in the RN-BSN program of study).

Research Critiques

In the Topic 2 and Topic 3 assignments, you completed a qualitative and quantitative research critique on two articles for each type of study (4 articles total). Use the feedback you received from your instructor on these assignments to finalize the critical analysis of each study by making appropriate revisions.

The completed analysis should connect to your identified practice problem of interest that is the basis for your PICOT question.(assignments 2, 3 attached)

Refer to “Research Critiques and PICOT Guidelines – Final Draft.”(see attachment). Questions under each heading should be addressed as a narrative in the structure of a formal paper.

(Proposed Evidence-Based Practice Change

Discuss the link between the PICOT question, the research articles, and the nursing practice problem you identified. Include relevant details and supporting explanation and use that information to propose evidence-based practice changes.

General Requirements

Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.
