 Use the Internet or Strayer Library to research articles on hypothesis test and its application in

business. Select one (1) company or organization which utilized hypothesis test technique for its

business process (e.g., whether or not providing flexible work hours improve employee

productivity.) Give your opinion as to whether or not the utilization of such a technique

improved business process for the selected company or organization. Justify your response.

Environmental   Crisis and Its Causes

 Do you agree that we face an environmental crisis? If not, reread Gottlieb’s description of “eight areas of acute concern” on p. 6-9 of This Sacred Earth: Religion, Nature, Environment and explain why you do not believe these areas constitute a crisis. If, on the other hand, you agree that there is a crisis, explain what philosophical/religious ideas, in your opinion, have led to this crisis. We read at least four theories: Western civilization (see the article by White), Christianity (see Peterson), Patriarchy (see Ruether), and the Enlightenment (see Weiming).  Which of the problematic ideas, if any, do you believe is the most fundamental root of the problem?  Why? Defend your claims by citing specific passages in the assigned texts.
 

Review your classmates’ posts. As you examine the topics that your classmates present, try to add to their arguments or point out things that they may have overlooked. If they present an explanation of the root causes that differs from your own, attempt to critique their view or harmonize your own view with their view. Utilize the articles from the readings in Week Two to make your arguments stronger and to supplement the claims that you make. Remember that all opinions should be backed with as much logical reasoning and factual evidence as one can gather.

Case Study 2: Disaster Recovery (DR) Lessons Learned: September 11th

Read the article titled “9/11: Top lessons learned for disaster recovery,” from Computerworld.com, located at http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9219867/9_11_Top_lessons_learned_for_disaster_recovery, and consider the effects the attacks of September 11, 2001, have had on technology recovery efforts.

Write a two to four (2-4) page paper in which you:

1.      Explain how the attacks affected risk management in organizations and have prompted an increased justification for recovery-based objectives, initiatives, and expenditures.

2.      Analyze the use of social media and other current methods of communication for emergency notifications during an incident or disaster situation.

3.      Determine whether or not organizations need to
consider distanced geographic locations when preparing for backup operations / data centers, and determine the effects that recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time objectives (RTO) have on these decisions.

4.      Evaluate the use of cloud services as
tools for recovery operations within an organization, and explain how they could increase or decrease the effectiveness of recovery operations.

5.      Determine whether or not cloud services are ideal recovery options for organizations regardless of their size.

*****Please try to make parts of this paper easy to understand as possible for non microbiologists. Do not simplify by excluding details but rather explain them. For example, your book introduces flagella this way:

“The prokaryotic flagellum is an appendage of phenomenal construction and is certainly unique in the biological world. Flagella provide the power of motility or self-propulsion” (p. 93).

Your version of this introduction to flagellum could be something like this. Let’s assume your selected bacterial pathogen was Helycobacter pyloris, or H. pyloris for short, the bacterium related to stomach ulcers.

H. pyloris, and other bacteria have structures coming off their surface called flagellum; they look like thin tails. Flagella – the plural of flagellum, are amazing structures. The flagella in H. pyloris help them move around (motility) by rotating and moving like the propellers in boats or airplanes.

Writing in the tone that corresponds to the target audience is an important component of this assignment. Most references that you will find in your research are likely to be at college level or beyond. It is your job to select the few details that are relevant and leave behind those that are not. You need to understand very well the different aspects of this research project to be able to write about it in clear and simple terms.

Chemotherapy – Drug action and selection

Discuss the main characteristics of the ideal antimicrobial drug. Discuss the major modes of action of antimicrobial agents in controlling microbial growth and give examples of antimicrobials for each mode of action. Identify one antibacterial drug used to treat the disease caused by your selected pathogen. Describe the mechanism of action of such antibacterial drug and the spectrum of effectiveness.

Explain how the appropriate antimicrobials are chosen for specific diseases including the Kirby-Bauer and MIC tests. Identify a test, if any, used to identify the antimicrobial drugs used for your selected pathogen.
