As we form our arguments, the responsibility for the veracity and integrity of our arguments is in our hands. Since the very core of the support for our arguments comes from our sources, a high degree of awareness is required when performing research. One or two sources that lack academic credibility can call into question our entire position.

For this discussion, by the due date assigned , after having reviewed this module’s lecture material, form two paragraphs of 5 to 7 sentences. In the first paragraph, reflect upon your efforts and process when deciding upon the suitability of source material for your paper. Think about and discuss how you decide which source materials are credible, and which ones do not meet the criteria for academic reliability. In the second paragraph, list one credible, academic source, and then list one that does not make the grade. Please use APA style reference page citations for this second paragraph.

Through the end of the module , respond to at least two of your classmates’ initial posts. Critique their choices based upon what you know about the evaluation of reliable source materials. Offer new ideas and compare your approaches.

research excel functions and learning resources

Using your favorite search engine, find an Excel function that we have not yet covered in this course (functions we have covered include SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT, etc.). In addition to posting the function and a description of what it does (a description using your own words), post a link to a resource that describes how it is used, including a demonstration. If you are having trouble finding a tutorial for the function you found, search the Microsoft website or YouTube.

Your post should include the following:

  • Excel Function
  • Description of what the function does
  • Discussion of how the function can help in data organization or analysis
  • Link to a YouTube video or a Microsoft.com page that demonstrates the function (for Microsoft, do a Google search using “Microsoft Excel tutorial” then the function name)

And these are essays you need to reply:

1.The Canterbury Tales has its own limitations. Many themes in the tales are not only outdated, but also discriminatory in modern standard. However, there are still relevant lessons for today’s audience.

The most compelling story to me is the Tale of the Wife of Bath. The story revolves with a knight convicted of rape. The queen decides to spare the knight from death if he can find out “what thing it is that women most desire” within a year (Tale of the Wife of Bath, 49). The knight eventually finds out that “women desire to have the sovereignty. As well upon their husband as their love, and to have mastery their man above” (Tale of the Wife of Bath, 182-184). The knight follows this rule and respects the will of his old wife, who rewarded him by becoming a faithful and desirable woman.

The story shows the desire of women that is still relevant today. Women desires equality, respect, and autonomy. Given today’s development, we have partially overcome the gender bias and discrimination. Women today are independent entity that enjoys the same legal right as men. However, our society still has prejudice and practices against women. We should learn from the 800 years old tale and build a community respecting women right and will.

2.Some writing withstands the test of time and is able to stick around for years if not centuries and still make an impact on peoples lives and is able to be relevant all that time later. These writings are the ones that turn into readings read by students everywhere and are staple points in literature classes.

In The Canterbury Tales there are multiple themes throughout the story that are relevant to the world and lives we live today in twenty eighteen. One of the themes that caught my eye in being relevant today is located in The Miller’s Tale. The themes that I notice are ones of love, jealousy, lust, and doubt. In the tale there is a carpenter who has a young 18 year old wife and he has some doubt, “And she was come to eighteen years of age. Jealous he was and held her close in cage. For she was wild and young, and he was old, And deemed himself as like to be cuckold”(The Miller’s Tale, 37-40). This section shows that even back many centuries ago people struggled with relationships the same way we do today. One partner will have doubts about either them self or their significant other that will turn to jealousy and that person being over protective. The same thing happens today all the time.

The most intriguing pilgrim to me is The Miller, as discussed above. Seeing how relevant the themes told from The Miller is astounding to me to see the pattern of behavior from humans when in the field of love. It just goes to show that emotions and strong feelings like love will never change over time and those emotions are attached to the human experience.
