You have just taken over as the head of Toyota's Quality Control Department. You are a Vice President (VP) and answer directly to the CEO. You have seven directors that answer to you. Each director manages one of the following divisions: 1. Drive Systems (including brakes, axles, and wheels) 2. Electrical Systems 3. Safety Systems 4. Body and Chassis (including suspension) 5. Material (quality of all materials that go into making car / truck) 6. Manufacturing Equipment (all systems that go into making a car, the factory line) 7. Facilities (all the supporting facilities, paperwork, etc) Each director has a group of inspectors and managers for their divisions. The previous VP has been let go, for cause. The departments morale is very low and there is a great deal of pressure for each division to perform. You are to develop a paper to present to the CEO that will outline how you are going to turn around the department (your department – hint – you are NOT in charge of production). You should include / address the following areas: 1. Short term (1 year) and long term (2-10 years) goals. Make sure they are SMART. 2. Any reorganization that you plan to do within your department. 3. Any assistance you will need from other departments. 4. Any training you will do with your department, and the company as a whole. (this ties into number three, since you will need to work with other departments) 5. An analysis of what challenges you will face. Think of this as a way of analyzing your potential pitfalls as your group undergoes change. 6. What leadership traits do want your seven directors to have? Pick at least three. Why did you pick these traits? How will you ensure that the directors have or gain the required skills.

Management law, management homework help

In hiring a prospective employee, there are legitimate reasons for not hiring someone. For example, the prospective employee may not meet legal requirements (i.e., he or she is a minor and cannot complete the tasks of the job based on the young age) or positional requirements (i.e., he or she does not have the required experience or education for the position and the employer demonstrates this requirement as a business necessity).

Neither of these examples is discrimination. However, there are protected classes that cannot be discriminated against. Title VII provides five protected classes that cannot be discriminated against. For review of the protected classes, see page IV of this week’s module.  However, Title VII only applies to companies with 15 employees or more.

Further, the bona fide occupational qualification (“BFOQ”) can be argued as a reason for discrimination by the employer, even of the protected classes. Importantly, though, is that race and color (two of the five protected classes under Title VII) are not on the list of permissible BFOQs.

For this assignment, complete the following:

  1. Using the internet, research a case where an individual claimed discrimination, either in his or her hiring or firing, and the employer argued a permissible BFOQ was the reason behind the failure to hire or behind the firing.
  2. Identify and clearly define the relevant law utilized by the court in determining the outcome of the case. This includes defining applicable legal doctrine, provisions of a law, or elements of a specific cause of action.
  3. Apply facts from the researched situation to the applicable law, doctrine or cause of action researched.

Then, address the following:

  1. Should Title VII apply to every company, regardless of number of employees?
  2. Should race and color be permissible bona fide occupational qualifications or should the BFOQ exceptions to employment discrimination be removed completely?

In answering these questions, be sure to consider the effect on the business world and on society generally. Clearly summarize lessons learned from the week as they apply to your researched case. Identify new thoughts or ideas based on the module information and identify any related ethical issues.

Your paper should be 2-3 pages in length, not including the title or references page. Review the grading rubric, which can be accessed from the Course Information page, and make sure to follow the CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements

as1 bio

Use the Internet to research aspects of biology.

Select an article from a magazine or newspaper that has something in it that pertains to biology. This will serve as the “target article” for this assignment. For instance, you can select an article about medicine, invasive species, nature, conservation, genetic technology, ecology, or any other topic that is related to biology. One purpose of this assignment is to help you become aware of how biology is related to your everyday life.

Write a one to three (1-3) page paper in which you:

  1. Summarize the article in one (1) or more paragraphs, using your own words. Be sure to identify the article using an in-text citation in the body of the paper, as well as a reference in the reference section.
  2. Explain how the article relates to this course. Identify which biological concepts from the course and / or text are relevant to the topic covered in the article. Citing the course text, discuss the ways in which this course does (or doesn’t) provide background information to help you understand the article and the larger issues surrounding it.
  3. Explain why the article caught your attention. Relate the article to your life and to issues that are important to you. Discuss how or if the scientific knowledge about the topic covered in the article affects you directly or indirectly.
  4. Discuss your opinion on how research on this topic should be funded. State whether you think taxpayer monies should support research on this topic or whether such research in this area should be funded by the private sector. Rate the importance of research on this topic, relative to other areas of research.

In addition to the target article, you should use at least one additional resource, such as your textbook or another article. You must have a reference section which contains an APA reference to your chosen article and all other sources. Additionally, you must provide in-text citations (in APA format) to your references in the body of the text. Integrate all sources into your paper using proper techniques of quoting, paraphrasing and summarizing, along with your in-text citations.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
