C++ program

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

You are going to revise the ticket-processing program (Program #5) to make it a more professional program, one that will be more representative of commercial program design.  You have now studied the use of additional functions to aid main in the overall processing.  Real computer programs consist of many of these functions.  Some are pretty small, intended to perform a simple but very important calculation.  Others are a bit larger in scope.  For this program you will need to revise Program #5 to incorporate such functions.

Since Program #5 is the background for this program, you will definitely want to have its directions handy.  I will leave out many of the details that you can glean from Program #5, and simply concentrate on the changes required.  Essentially, when you have this program finished, it should perform nearly the same as Program #5 did.  Of course, you might want to improve some of its look and feel, but the ticket-selling operation should still work the same.

SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS

Use the following functions by name in your design for this program.  If you wish to use more, that’s OK, as long as you include these as well.  Hint:  you will find it easiest just to accumulate all the final totals in main.

main                                         Your central loop will be here, as well as a lot more.  Use the other functions for

                                                  their specific purposes.

get_ticket_type                      Present a menu of the three ticket types and an option to quit.  Input the user’s choice

and make sure it is a valid choice.  If it is invalid, then ask for another choice.  Keep

asking until the user enters a valid ticket type.  Return to main the user’s choice.

find_ticket_price                   Receives the ticket type and returns the price of one ticket, including free tickets!

apply_discount                      Receives the ticket cost, applies the discount, and returns the discounted cost.

disp_purchase                        Displays the information for one customer purchase:  the type of ticket(s) purchased;

how many were purchased; and the cost of the purchase.  (If the cost is the discount

cost, only show that, not the original cost.)

disp_final_report                   Format and display the final numbers.  See the totals required to be displayed and an

example report in the Program #5 directions.

Before displaying the final report, you must clear the screen, so the final totals will look great!  Your final results must be laid out in a business-like report with headings, etc.  A simple bunch of statements, like “Total number of tickets sold:  1345” will not be acceptable.

This C++ solution should be Program6 Solution name.  Zip the solution for submitting, as usual.

TURN IN:  a data dictionary for this program, a complete flowchart, and the zipped solution directory.  Submit everything using the Dropbox in D2L.

EXTRA CREDIT (10 pts)

How much money did we “lose” by selling some tickets at a discount?  After the final report, display how many tickets of each type that were purchased with discount coupons, and also display how much more money we would have made if we hadn’t accepted the coupons at all.  (We may get greedy and cancel this program if it cuts too much into our revenue!)

Logisitics/Supply Chain Mgmt. – Criteria to consider

Deliverable length: 500–600 words + references (minimum 2)

Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 400–600 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions with your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.

In one of your initial meetings with the chief executive officer (CEO), she asked you to identify a number of the typical criteria used when making new location decisions. Complete the following:

  1. Describe and list at least 8 specific criteria to use.
  2. Explain the logic of why each criterion should be important.
  3. On a relative scale of importance, assign a high, medium, or low weight to each of the 8 criteria.

Do not put all of this information into 1 paragraph; instead use 8 paragraphs, answering all 3 questions for each of the 8 criteria in a separate paragraph. A chart would also be acceptable.

Instructor Notes and guidelines: (Please read it)

Please note when doing this assignment that you respond to all three task list questions for EACH of the 8 criteria you are listing and discussing here.

For example,

Criteria # 1 = xxxxxxx

Logic for selection = xxxxxxx

Level of Importance = high, medium or low and why

Then move on to Criteria #2 and do the same as illustrated above.

Here are a few examples of criteria that should be considered with location decisions:

  1. How many distribution centers should the firm use and where should they be located?

For example, is your firm local, national or international?  Generally speaking you always want to locate your distribution centers “near” your customer base.

Why is this important?

  1. What customers or market areas should be serviced from each distribution center?

For example, IF you have several distribution centers across the USA, which center serves which customers?

Would you allow any center to serve any customer or divide the centers geographically?

  1. Which product lines should be produced or shipped at each plant or distribution center?

In other words, should each distribution center carry only a few of our company’s products and other centers carry the rest?

OR

Should each distribution center carry the entire inventory of the company’s product lines?

  1. What logistics channels should be used to source material and serve international markets?

This refers to selling your products overseas.  Would you have a dedicated center that deals specifically with overseas markets?

Do you have your product made overseas, shipped to your distribution center in the USA, and then ship it back out to overseas customers or does your overseas mfr. do it for you?

  1. What combination of public and private distribution facilities should be used?

In other words, do you own your distribution centers OR outsource your center to others whom you pay to lease their facilities?

While it might seem odd to outsource your distribution centers to others, you as a company would save the costs of having your own employees, paying benefits, etc.

  1. Proximity to your suppliers and customers

How close is your proposed facility to the suppliers that you rely upon?

OR

How close is your facility to your customers?

  1. Access to Infrastructure

Is the site of your proposed location near highways, waterways, airports, etc.?

Are the roads leading to and from your facility in good shape?

Clearly these are just a few of the many criteria that needs to be considered when discussing location decisions.

Many more are available to you via Internet searches.

For each, be sure to list

  1. The criteria

The logic of its importance
Its’ relative importance (high, medium, low) and WHY

QUESTION ONE-The use of force by law enforcement officers is sometimes required when dealing with suspects resisting arrest and/or individuals disobeying direct orders. However, when the use of force becomes excessive or is used unnecessarily, law enforcement officers are arguably committing ethical violations. Compose an essay of 500 – 700 words that discusses (1) the types of ethical violations that can occur when excessive use of force occurs and (2) policies that law enforcement administrators can implement to minimize the chances of officers unnecessarily utilizing excessive use of force without impeding the discretion necessary for officers to effectively carryout their duties. Directly quoted material may be used, but will not count towards the minimum word count. Be sure to support your response with cited scholarly resources as required by APA. A minimum of three (3) resources in addition to the course textbook must be used when composing your response. QUESTION TWO- Law enforcement agencies are frequently compared to the military when discussing their organizational structure. The term “quasi-military” is often used to describe the type of reporting structure that exists within most law enforcement agencies. Compose an essay of 500 – 700 words that compares the organizational structure of law enforcement agencies with the military. When making your comparison include examples from both local law enforcement agencies, as well as state or federal law enforcement agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation or State Bureau of Investigations. Directly quoted material may be used, but will not count towards the minimum word count. Be sure to support your response with cited scholarly resources as required by APA. A minimum of three (3) resources in addition to the course textbook must be used when composing your response.
