What are the common signs of bullying in nursing?

ou are responsible for minimally at least 3 posts for each question in your discussion boards; your initial post and reply to two of your classmates. Your initial post(s) should be your response to the questions posed in the discussion question. You should research your answer and cite at least one scholarly source when appropriate, and always use quality writing. The discussion board is never a place to use text language or emoticons. You will also be asked to respond to your classmates. This is designed to enhance the academic discussion around the topic. It is all right to disagree with something posted by another, however your responses should always be thoughtful and respectful and reflect your opinions professionally.

Discussion Question:

Have you ever worked with someone who caused problems with you or others? (Explain how the problem manifested itself and how it was managed).

What are the common signs of bullying in nursing?

What are common stressors in the nursing workplace? What are some strategies to manage personal and professional stress?

Your initial posting should be at least 400 words in length and utilize at least one scholarly source other than the textbook. Please reply to at least two classmates. Replies to classmates should be at least 200 words in length.

An Epidemic in the Community

Consider the following scenario: This is Debbie’s first year working as a nurse at the local health department in a rural county. Most of her days are spent in the clinic seeing clients who often do not have health insurance.

Over the past month, Debbie has noticed that several young Hispanic men have come to the health department, each diagnosed with tuberculosis. Debbie is concerned about what the outbreak of tuberculosis among the migrant workers could mean for the community. Through a community health profile, Debbie identifies the group of migrant farm workers as being at highest risk for contracting tuberculosis.

Using the Epidemiologic Triangle concept, consider the relationship among causal agents, susceptible persons, and environmental factors. Then, respond to the following:

As a BSN-prepared community health nurse, what steps should Debbie take next?
Considering economic and social considerations within the community, what are the primary, secondary, and tertiary interventions that Debbie might use in managing this outbreak?
Can similar interventions be applied to your community and its TB prevalence?
What considerations need to be addressed within your community that are different form Debbie’s community?
A reference list is required. Use the most current evidence (usually ≤ 5 years old).

Why is the hospital required to report this patient’s death to the medical examiner/coroner? Do medical examiners and coroners have the right to receive patient information needed to investigate a case?

On Thursday a 75-year-old patient at Wesley Glen Senior Living Facility became agitated and physically abusive to himself and others, so he was placed in wrist and ankle restraints. An hour later, staff found the patient unconscious and called the EMT squad for assistance. The patient was taken to the medical center emergency department (ED), where he awoke and once again became physically abusive. The physician ordered the patient to be restrained to protect the patient and others while the physician examined the patient. Upon examining the patient the physician noted that the patient had multiple bruises on his back, buttocks, and thighs. In addition, the patient had a cardiac defibrillator implanted during his last inpatient visit. The hospital had received a medical device alert regarding the implant device and was notifying patients with the device to contact their physician for follow-up. The patient was sedated and the restraints removed. However, 15 hours later the patient expired. The hospital reported the death to the medical examiner/coroner’s office. Consider the following:

  1. Why is the hospital required to report this patient’s death to the medical examiner/coroner? Do medical examiners and coroners have the right to receive patient information needed to investigate a case?
  2. What additional required reporting must be done by Wesley Glen and the hospital in regard to the patient’s death?
  3. Who is responsible for notifying the hospital that a medical device in use may cause harm to patients? If the patient’s death was attributed to the cardiac implant defibrillator, what is the hospital’s responsibility for reporting the death to the FDA? How is the death reported?

Cultural Communications Challenges for Responding Police Officers

Hello, I am looking for someone to write an article on Cultural Communications Challenges for Responding Police Officers. It needs to be at least 1250 words.

However, what remains to be seen is the fact that these police officers will be able to give in their best in times of trouble, trying circumstances, litigations, cultural manifestations, and so on and so forth. The role of these police officers within the areas where cultural communications tangents are drawn upon remains an important one. Often times it has been seen that these police officers have not been able to get their point across to the relevant audiences merely due to the fact that the latter have not been able to understand what they are saying.

This is a problem and one that receives quite a lot of flak due to the communication breakdown which takes place within the related scenarios (Decker, 1996). What could be done to do away with such communication breakdowns is something that remains to be seen within the midst of things. However, the evidence is available that the police officers have learned new traits, acquired skills, and the like to make sure that the crime scene does not get disrupted by communication issues every now and then.

What is important here is an understanding on the part of both these police officers and the people at large so that sanity could prevail within the related ranks and that success for the sake of finding out the inner depths of the crimes would see the light of the day.The main aim of these police officers should be as such to make sure that they secure the crime scene as soon as they reach the spot, and then collect hate literature, spray paint cans, do away with threatening letters, identify criminal evidence and move ahead with the investigation phases in particular.

During this process, the manner in which they communicate with the people from different walks of life is a very significant notion and one that needs to be given emphasis by these police officers as well. They also have to interview people to find out about the suspects and the actual crime that has been committed, creating awareness for not only their own selves but also the public that are present near the crime scene. The support services for the community members are also deemed as significant because this emphasizes the due role of the police officers and their work manifestations within the minds of the community at large (Scerra, 2011).
