Evaluation Essay Assignment:

Writing Arguments formulates a general categorical evaluation claim as follows: “This thing/phenomenon is/is not a good member of its class because its meets (fails to meet) criteria A, B, and C” (287). In 900-1,200 words (not including references/works cited), categorically evaluate some phenomenon, activity, or thing in terms of our larger class theme: sustainability (specifically, environmental sustainability).

You must decide what category you will argue your phenomenon/activity/thing is in (what category is composting in, or hydropower? “Hydropower is a good example of a sustainable energy source.” “Hydropower is not a good example of a sustainable energy source.” “Hydropower is a good example of a large scale sustainable infrastructure investment.” “Hydropower is an excellent source of energy.” Etc.). Next you must formulate criteria for your category. Try to think about several phenomena/activities/things that fit in your category, and then determine what all those phenomena/activities/things have in common. Ask yourself why each criterion is essential to the category. You must justify your criteria. When justifying your criteria, make sure to avoid circular arguments (e.g. something is sustainable because it is sustainable).

Please write your paper according to the conventions of closed form prose. Also must include a minimum of 3 sited sources MLA format (1 source must be a peer review scholar journal)

1500 word essay on “The Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock”

Keeping in mind it’s modernist tone and themes let suppose Prufrock really is a love song. What kind of women would he sing it too? What kind of woman would listen? Would any of the women like ( Edna from the awakening, Allison from the yellow wallpaper, or Marion from Babylon revisited) listen? If so, why, if not, why not? What kind of relationship should we expect from these two?

Meeting Bad Reasoning with Good

Read the following:

Ignorance is the greatest cause of hatred and disorder in the world. The best way to combat ignorance is through the dissemination of valid and accurate information. The rise of the Internet has made vast amounts of information widely available to people around the world. It can therefore be said that the Internet is the greatest tool for increasing tolerance and harmony that has ever been created.

In 1-2 pages, create an essay that refutes the above stated argument. Your refutation should also contain an analysis of the Internet argument addressing its structure (deductive or inductive), and whether it is cogent or fallacious.

Write 150 to 200 words on each of the following topics:

  • Describe a situation of public interest in which critical and/or creative thought could have been used for a better outcome. Describe why it is important to think critically and creatively in similar situations.
  • Define free will, truth, knowledge, and opinion. Explain how we use them to form thoughts. What role does each play in critically assessing situations?
  • Identify three hindrances to the critical thinking process. Determine methods for overcoming these hindrances. Identify a time in which you experienced a hindrance in critical thinking. Describe a method you could use to overcome the hindrances.

Psychology: Family Dynamics

 Family Dynamics

Family dynamics play a major role in how children develop. These influences include structure, expectations, parenting styles, and involvement. To understand more about how childhood experiences with your family have influenced current identification of self, take a few minutes and think back to those days.

  • Analyze the role that family structure, expectations, parenting styles, and involvement of caregivers played in your development.
  • Reflect on your experiences and share any that you are comfortable sharing. You can use questions such as the following to guide your reflection:
    • What was the best thing that your family said about you or did for you? Try to remember one exact day when that was said or done for you. Which person did this? Remember now what you felt then. When do you feel this way now?
    • Did you have a nickname? How did you feel about it?
    • Did family members tell you what you would end up being or doing? Was it what you wanted to be or do? How did you respond?
    • How do you think your family would have described you to a close friend of theirs? What were they most concerned about for you?
  • Would you do or react to things differently now than you did then? Why?
  • Make sure you evaluate your experiences in the context of major theories and concepts of cognitive, social, and physical development during middle childhood. Support your responses by citing information from the online notes and textbook and other scholarly sources. For example, describe the cognitive stage you might have been in at the time of specific events, according to Piaget, Erikson, or Freud. How did this influence how you interpreted the events?  You can also discuss the parenting style that you think was used by your parents/caregivers.

Write a 3–4-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.
