Procter and Gamble – Using a SWOT Analysis for Strategic Thinking

Preparation

Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation and a SWOT analysis template in the Assessment Resources. Both will be required in this assessment. To explain and support your internal and external analyses, five current, scholarly, or professional resources are needed for this assessment.

Requirements

Develop a PowerPoint presentation of 8–12 slides (with speaker’s notes) that synthesizes the internal and external analyses from prior assessments for your selected firm. Your presentation is to include the following in a well-developed SWOT analysis and a summary of potential strategic actions based on the SWOT analysis:

Summary of SWOT Analysis
  • Examine the internal resources, capabilities and competencies of the selected firm using key strategic management tools and models such as the VIRO Framework and Value Chain.
    • Look specifically for capabilities that are required for the company’s competitive advantage.
    • Be specific about the firm’s resources (both tangible and intangible) that seem most strategically important, now and in your vision of the company’s future strategic development.
    • Cleary state where firm Strengths and Weaknesses are found.
  • Analyze the firm’s external environment including its general environment, industry, and competitive position. Choose a strategic management model such as PEST analysis or Porter’s Five Forces Model to use in this analysis. Clearly state where external Opportunities and Threats are found.
  • Illustrate the key strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats using a SWOT table. You might also develop a SWOT figure that depicts your findings in a way that allows for more effective integration and synthesis of your key ideas.
Strategic Actions Based on SWOT Analysis
  • Relate the SWOT analysis to/with the key strategic actions the selected firm could take to further its alignment and long-term success.
    • How can you relate internal strengths and weaknesses with opportunities and threats in the external environment? Are there capabilities that need to be enhanced in order to capitalize on opportunities or reduce threats? Are there capabilities that can be divested because they no longer are need in the current or projected environment?
    • What are the strategic actions that would align specific strengths and weaknesses with specific opportunities and threats?

Your presentation should be written clearly and be communicated effectively to organizational leadership in a business environment. Keep in mind that the audience is an upper level leadership audience, so formatting your content to appeal to that audience will help your presentation be on point.

Additional Requirements

  • References: Support your PPT presentation with at least five academic resources. You must use proper APA style and format for citations and references.
  • Length: 8–10 PPT slides (with speaker’s notes), plus references.
  • Written communication: Demonstrate graduate-level writing skills through accurate communication of thoughts that convey the overall goals of the analysis and do not detract from the message.
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 point.

Refer to the Using a SWOT Analysis for Strategic Thinking Scoring Guide to ensure that you meet the grading criteria for this assessment.

Duty-To-Disclose-Brady-v-Maryland-

Introduction:

In Brady v. Maryland (1963), the U.S. Supreme Court held that due process is violated when the prosecution suppresses evidence favorable to an accused upon request where the evidence is material either to guilt or to punishment. The Brady Rule on Disclosure of Evidence to the Accused purports that the prosecutor has a duty to disclose evidence favorable to a defendant. Many cases have since been decided that provide additional insight and clarification to this rule, such as United States v. Agurs (1976), United States v. Bagley (1985), Kyles v. Whitley (1995), and Strickler v. Greene (1999).

Instructions:

  • 1: Articulate how the rules of criminal procedure apply to a criminal justice practitioner.
    • Explain how the Supreme Court interpreted and refined the rule in Brady v. Maryland in reference to one of the subsequent cases: United States v. Agurs, United States v. Bagley, Kyles v. Whitley, or Strickler v. Greene.
    • Explore how the Supreme Court’s post- Brady interpretation of the rule impacts its application.
  • 3: Apply the 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendments in a criminal justice context.
    • Analyze Brady v. Maryland and the Court’s rationale for its decision.

    Special Instructions:

  • Create a 1 page essay in APA format according to the instructions above. Use 2 academically reviewed sources for references. Be sure to utilize in-text citations.

-Begin-with-the-running-program-from-your-Phase-4-Individual-Project-Project-C-

Part 1: Begin with the running program from your Phase 4 Individual Project where the examination question class hierarchy was fully implemented in a menu-driven program. An exam class was developed to load the exam from a file and display each question to the screen.

Part 2: Modify the program from part 1 to change the menu to the following:

  1. Load an exam
  2. Take an exam
  3. Show exam results
  4. Quit

Choice 1: No functionality change. Load the exam based upon the user’s prompt for an exam file.

Choice 2: The program should display a single question at a time and prompt the user for an answer. Based upon the answer, it should track the score based upon a successful answer. Once a user answers the question, it should also display the correct answer with an appropriate message (e.g., “Good job” or “Better luck next time”) Upon completion of the exam, the program should return the user to the menu.

Choice 3: The program should display the total points available and the total points scored during that exam. A percentage score should also be displayed. (Optional: if you choose to track which problems were missed, you could display that information for the user.)

Choice 4: No change to this functionality from the Phase 4 IP.

You should consider creating an additional class Student that will track student’s score through methods such as addPointsPossible, addPointsScored, getPointsPossible, and getPointsScored. You should also enhance your Exam class to include methods getPointValue and getAnswer. You may also want to add a method to only display one question

Part-2-Essay-on-the-Meaning-of-Liberty

Part 2 – Essay on the Meaning of Liberty

As we read in our lectures this week, philosopher John Locke asked: “If a man in the state of nature is free, if he is absolute lord of his own person and possessions, why will he give up his freedom? Why will he put himself under the control of any person or institution?”

John Locke’s answer was: “that the rights in the state of nature are constantly exposed to the attacks of others. Since every man is equal and since most men do not concern themselves with equity and justice, the enjoyment of rights in the state of nature is unsafe and insecure. Hence each man joins in society with others to preserve life, liberty, and property.”

In at least 500 words answer the following questions:

  • In your own words, what is freedom? (*Note: dictionary definitions of the word freedom will not be accepted)
  • In your own words, what is liberty? (*Note: dictionary definitions of the words liberty will not be accepted)
  • Does your definition of freedom agree with Locke’s definition of freedom? Why or why not?
  • Does your definition of liberty agree with Locke’s understanding of liberty? Why or why not?
  • John Locke argues that freedom and liberty are very different things. Do you agree or not? Why or why not?
  • Finally, how did these ideas of liberty and freedom connect to the creation of the Constitution?

Please note: APA formatting and citations rules apply to this and all essays in this course.

As with all weekly written assignments, submit your work as an attached file. Double-space your paper and use 12 point Times New Roman as your font.
