M1D1- Social Research.

Hi,

Please Answer the following questions. Knowing that my topic of interest is human resource since I am doing it as a minor.

” What is social research in your own words? From our nonscientific methods of knowing (ordinary human inquiry, tradition, and authority), what do we already “know” about your topic of interest? How can research move beyond this commonly accepted wisdom?

Please answer the question in one well developed paragraph. Then pose a critical thinking question for your classmates to answer. You are to post your initial response by Wednesday (9/5) and respond to two of your classmates questions by Sunday (9/9). This will be the schedule that we will follow throughout the semester unless otherwise noted.”

Thank you.

Analysis of how the area supports language development, psychology homework help

All children learn language in a language-rich environment. In thinking about what you have learned about language so far, how will you design the physical space of your classroom to allow for language opportunities? You will need to think about the type of communication and interactions that you would like to see take place throughout your classroom.

For example, you might place drawing paper and clipboards in the block area to help foster communication so that children can draw their block creations on paper and share them with other children. Having a large open space in the block area invites cooperation so children can verbally communicate and work together on large building structures. You also might have the block shelf labeled for children to be able to see and provide books of shapes and building for children to explore.

For this assignment, you will create a floor plan of your classroom that fosters language development. Your classroom design should have a minimum of three physical areas of the classroom detailed including an explanation of how the design supports language acquisition. You can use web resources such as Classroom Architect or Gliffy to design your classrooms or you may use Microsoft Word to draw your design using shapes and the textbox feature. If you choose to use Classroom Architect or Gliffy, you will need to download your design as a PDF file or JPG file and insert the image into a Word document before uploading your final assignment.

For each area (minimum of three) that you define in your classroom floor plan, you must include the following:

  1. Explain how the area is set up
  2. Explain how specifically the area supports language development
  3. Describe the activity or experience that the children can specifically be engaged in
  4. Explain what the role of the teacher will be
  5. How you will assess the effectiveness of this area on language development

This assignment should be completed in a two- to three-page paper (in addition to the title page and reference page) that accompanies your visual floor plan. Your project should be written in APA format as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center, and include at least two scholarly resources in addition to the course text. Please remember to provide evidence from the textbook to support your design features. You must also provide a reference citation in APA format at the bottom of your floor plan.

When you submit your assignments each week, they will be returned to you with specific feedback. This feedback should be used to revise the assignment for the Final Project. Please make the necessary corrections and save for Week Five use in the Final Project.

Discussion-Assignment-Increasing-Awareness-of-Privileges-and-Inequities

Discussion Assignment: Increasing Awareness of Privileges and Inequities

When you studied the nature of institutional discrimination, you also examined the meaning of the terms privilege and oppression. The authors of the course text, Anti-Bias Education for Young Children and Ourselves, comment that privileged people might not even be aware of their privileges but instead, perceive them as “normal.”

This assignment offers you the opportunity to increase your understanding of institutional “isms”, to learn more about their effects, and to reflect on ways in which you may have internalized privilege/oppression. In preparation for the Discussion

Take time to review and consider:

  • In the course text, Anti-Bias Education for Young Children and Ourselves:
    • The sections “Internalized privilege and internalized oppression” (pp. 25–27) and
    • “Unraveling our privileges and oppressions” (p. 27)
    • The “Social Identities” chart (p. 31) (focus on the ways the authors categorize certain social identity group members as recipients of privilege and others as targets of discrimination)
  • Your social identities which you listed in Week 1 (reflect in what ways society’s institutions have responded by affording you privileges and/or by discriminating against you)
  • The three examples in the introduction to this week and which specific privileges/oppressions they document

By Wednesday:

Post your response to these questions:

  • In what specific ways have society’s institutions, in response to any of your social identities, afforded you privileges (i.e., opened doors for you, and/or discriminated against you (i.e., made your life more difficult)?
  • In what ways do society’s responses to your social identities correspond or conflict with the categories of privilege and oppression presented on page 31?
  • What major insights/questions do you now have with regard to privilege and oppression?

Letter to Mr. Barash.

For this revision, you will rewrite your Observational Essay by directing it to David P. Barash himself, the author of “The Roar of the Crowd.” We all recall that Mr. Barash sounded quite hostile to the whole idea of watch sports; he felt it was a waste of time at best, and at worst it was too close to the kind of group mentality that in the past has lead to fascism and genocide. He also felt that making heroes out of sports figures was a mistake.

We mostly agreed that Mr. Barash was pretty extreme in his language, and we also observed that it was almost as if he himself had never been to a sporting event, or if he had been, he had not observed with an open mind. Well, YOU have been to a sporting event, and you have observed the spectators carefully. Your job in revising your second rough draft is to write letter to Mr. Barash, sympathetically summarizing his concerns and sharing some of your observations as a defense of spectators.

Your revision must include the following elements:

  1. Brief, accurate, and sympathetic summary in your own words of his concerns about sports spectatorship. Re-read Barash if necessary. Do not insult him or tell him he must have been a nerd-loser in high school to hate sports so much!
  2. A request that he rethink his views of sports fans based on the evidence you want to share with him. “I hope you will listen to what I have to say….”
  3. A reframing of SOME of your observations as that evidence. Do not simply paste in your observations the way they were written for the rough draft! You will have to choose specific observations, perhaps expand them, and you will have to revise the sentences so they make sense in this new context.

You do not have to do any additional research for this revision. You can, if you like, include any of your own experiences as an athlete or a fan, in addition to sharing your observations.

Your revision must take the format of a letter to Mr. Barash. That means…

  1. Use the first-person (I).
  2. Have a salutation (“Dear Mr. Barash”) and a closing (“Yours, Allie”)

Length Requirement

This revision may end up being SHORTER than your rough draft—you will cut some of your observations, though you will have to add the brief summary of Barash’s concerns. Aim for between 3 pages double-spaced.

Home-Building-Project-Plan-

Follow directions, read the following thoroughly and think the plan through.

You are building your own home. You are preparing a project plan for the build.

  • Today is day 1, it is 1-April-2017.
  • You have been working with an architect and he has two weeks of work to finalize the plans that will go to the other contractors.
  • The contractors will only work 8 hours per day and will not work weekends. 29-May, 4-July, 4-September, 9-October and 23-November are all non-working holidays.
  • The day after receiving the plans from the architect, the surveyors of your property will take 5 days for their work and will supply their specifications to the site preparation team on their last day.
  • The site preparation team expects to take 10 days to properly grade the property and have it ready for the concrete contractor to prepare the foundation of the house.
  • The concrete contractor estimates 3 days to pour the foundation. The concrete requires 5 days to dry (cure). Once cured, they require 1 final day to finish the foundation and install the sill plate.
  • The framing contractor’s materials will arrive on the same day that the concrete contractor is working on the sill plate.
  • Once the sill plate is installed, the carpenters immediately start working and expect 3 weeks for the walls and the roof to be framed.
  • The roofer and the brick contractors work at the same time once this is complete. The roof is completed in 4 days. The brick contractor completes their first phase three weeks.
  • The plumber begins his work the day after the roofers finish their work and he completes his first phase in 2 weeks.
  • The electrician begins the day after the plumber is finished for their first phase of their work. It takes them 2 weeks.
  • The heating and air conditioning contractor starts their work on the first day of the electrician’s second week. They take 9 days.
  • Windows and doors are installed the day after the heating and air conditioning contractor finishes their work. Their work takes 3 days.
  • Following the doors and windows being installed, the interior carpenters begin their work and will take 3 weeks to complete the interior walls. They take another week to building the kitchen.
  • The plumber and the electrician work at the same time for one more week, once the kitchen is complete.
  • At the same time that the plumber and electrician start their work, the dry wall contractor finishes the interior walls in 2 weeks’ time. The brick contractor starts the completion of the outside of the house, the steps to the front and back door, and walk ways at the same time and takes just 1 week.
  • The interior of the house is painted once the electrician and plumber are completed and it takes the painters 3 days.
  • Kitchen cabinets, molding and other interior finishing work is completed in 2 weeks once the painters are complete.
  • After the cabinets, molding and finishing is complete, appliances are installed. This takes 2 days.
  • The electrician and plumber work together and finish their work in 2 days, once the appliances are installed.
  • The remaining flooring and carpeting is then installed in 3 days.
  • The final inspection only takes 1 day and follows the installation of the carpet and final flooring.
  • You have been busy purchasing your new furniture for the whole house. You have arranged delivery for the day after the inspection is approved.
  • QUESTION:. one date each for the first three questions and the contractor’s name for the forth

Question 1: What date do you schedule the furniture delivery?

Question 2: If the brick contractor took 7 days to finish outside of the house, the steps to the front and back door, and walk ways, when would you schedule the delivery of the furniture?

Question 3: The framing contractor’s materials arrive a day early, when would you schedule the delivery of the furniture?

Question 4: I made an error in laying out the tasks above. Which contractor will have to come back to finish their work.
