  3. Write a three-page paper, not including your title page and reference page, answering the following questions from the perspective of the Chairman of the Board at a for-profit HCO:
    1. How would you utilize internal consulting to support the Governing Board?
    2. How would you assess the performance of the Governing Board?
    3. How would you handle a situation where there needed to be intervention regarding the CEO’s performance?
  4. In the paper, be sure to:
    1. Analyze the role of internal consulting in supporting the Governing Board.
    2. Evaluate the functions of the Governing Board.
    3. Compare and contrast approaches to CEO performance intervention.
    4. Apply Biblical principles found in the workshop devotional: People Problems.
    5. Defend your position, citing any research and/or evidence to support your arguments.
  5. Your paper should include at least three citations from the textbook, articles, or other credible sources. Your citations must be in proper APA format.

This is Part II of the assignment you submitted in Week 6.

Using the case outline (Part I: How the Courts Address or Respect Our Rights as Citizens) you submitted in Week 6, prepare and submit a presentation, which will either be a narrated PowerPoint, a Kaltura Video, or some other format as approved by your instructor. Be sure to verify the presentation format with your instructor before starting work on this assignment.

The presentation Point presentation will need to include:

  • Name the case
  • Discuss the facts of the case
  • Discuss the history of the case (what laws or legal action was taken)
  • Discuss the issues or the facts of the case and legal questions the court must decide
  • Discuss if the court’s decision or holdings was for the plaintiff or for the defendant and what were the reasons for the decision?
  • Discuss the concurring and dissenting opinions from the judge or if a jury trial, the jury.

Important: In this assignment, you are expected to elaborate the points you made in the prior assignment in Week 6. This assignment will be graded on your strength to elaborate and explain the facts of the case and proper use of visual aids, good narration, and presenting to the case and how well you stick to the case. For example, if you are using the PowerPoint, you are also expected to include proper visuals that are relevant to the case. Do not copy-paste the outline into this and call it complete.

This assignment is worth 250 points.

Writing Requirements (APA format)

  • Length: The presentation must be 10-15 slides long if using PowerPoint (excluding cover and reference pages) or 3-5 minute long if using a video presentation.
  • 1-inch margins
  • Double spaced
  • 12-point Times New Roman font
  • Title page
  • References page (minimum of 2 scholarly sources in addition to textbook if cited)
  • Use the speaker notes to elaborate on the content on the slides

HRM Metrics

Many organizations apply metrics to measure the success and strategic value of their HRM policies and practices. Metrics not only give HR professionals the evidence of strategic value, they also act as the drivers of HR policies and practices. HR metrics are an essential tool for the design, implementation, evaluation, and revision of HRM strategies. In addition, HR metrics give HR professionals the necessary information to more effectively manage and deploy HR assets.

There are many metrics organizations can use, so it is important to utilize the most appropriate metrics for the organization. For example, organizations have used economic and financial analysis to calculate the value of HR practices. The calculations are straightforward and provide the evidence of the extent to which HR practices are deployed toward specific strategic organizational objectives.

Choose an organization with which you are familiar or have access to public information (e.g. BP, McDonald’s, or Starbucks). You will use this organization throughout the course in various assignments. When selecting an organization, think about how you—if asked to act as an HRM, would determine the most appropriate metrics for demonstrating success and strategic value. What might these metrics include?

For this week’s Assignment, in a 2- to 3-page paper:

  • Identify 3–5 metrics that your particular organization might consider in measuring the success of the organization’s HRM policies and practices.
  • Analyze each metric’s relevance in setting HR annual strategies, assessing HR success and contribution to the organization’s successful attainment of its organizational strategies.
  • Finally, discuss whether each of the HR metrics are equally important to the organization you have selected for increasing strategic value and why. If not, which metrics are the most critical? Be specific and provide examples to justify your response.
