album report on jazz album 1

Album Report Guidelines:

– It’s a Album, much like a book report, but for a album.

– Think about what you are hearing/seeing and how does it relate

to what you have learned in this class so far. How does it not

relate?

– Details about the music are important (song names and

composers are nice, but even more important are the details of

the actual music being performed; style, tempo,

improvisation/solos, forms, arrangements, textures, timbres, etc.)

– 5 pages Double Spaced, it is about the content

– Think about vocabulary words you have learned

– Think about other great jazz musicians that might be comparable

in some fashion

– Is there anything unusual or unique in the performance compared

to other concerts you have seen/heard?

Some examples of albums that can be used (only supposed to be one one album):

Miles Davis “Kind of Blue” or “Bitches Brew”

Charlie Parker “Bird and Diz”

Art Blakey “Ugetsu” or “Free for All”

John Coltrane “Giant Steps” or “A Love Supreme”
