Directions for Academic Service-Learning Reflections/ Objectives
The purpose of the reflection paper is to share the connection between the service experience and the teaching/learning objective. The goals of service-learning are to
1) enhance classroom learning, 2) meet community needs, and 3) foster civic responsibility/civic engagement.

Student acknowledges a responsibility to community regarding issues pertinent to the service and expresses a commitment to working towards specific solution(s).
Student expresses insight into community issues pertinent to the service project and integrates a personal sense of responsibility to participating in a solution but does not apply that knowledge.
Student demonstrates a limited awareness of personal responsibility to community.
Enhanced Academic Learning
Student develops a perspective based on both theory and service.
Include two relevant course objective
Student expresses some connection between theory and service.
Include one relevant course objectives.
Paper is organized and consists of well-constructed paragraphs.
Purposeful Civic Learning
Student expresses empathy and awareness of personal role in the solution and makes a connection to the bigger picture.
