Create a handout using any modern word processing program (like Microsoft Word or Google Docs) that includes the following features:

  • Centered heading giving yourself credit
  • Page numbers in the “Page 2 of 8” format
  • An introductory paragraph that is left justified and has no indentation
  • Two closing paragraphs that have a hanging left indent of 0.5 inches
  • Part of the document must use the two column format using “tables”
  • At least two images from any source
  • At least two screen shots (in addition to the two images)
  • At least two graphic ovals highlighting the screenshots with arrows pointing to them.
  • At least two hyperlinks to external web sites
  • At least two hyperlinks to another part of the Word document
  • Use APA style and references for everything

— Microsoft Word Tips: See word-tutorial-v2.html Click for more options

for a set of online tutorial video clips that demonstrate some of the above for Mac and PC versions of Word.

— Google Docs Tip#1: Google Docs seems to work best when you use it with Google’s Chrome web browser. For example, for Items 6 and 7, Chrome smoothly allows the “pasting” of images into a Doc, while some other web browsers do not.

— Google Docs Tip#2: For Item #8, Google Docs does not support “floating graphics” yet like Microsoft Word. So, the work around is to (a) copy the original image, (b) insert a “drawing”, (c) paste the image inside the “drawing”, (d) add an oval inside the “drawing”, and then (e) save the “drawing”. See a quick video demonstration of that here.
