Assignment (Proposal)

This coursework aims to raise your awareness of the process, context and the nature of research that you could undertake in business and organisations. The overall purpose is to maximise the transfer of your research findings and learning into practice to facilitate improvements. It has been subdivided into a number of sub-questions intended to address different aspects involved in your project.

Provide a rich picture showing your understanding of problems and issues faced by an organisation of your choice and include the following aspects in it:

Core area of the organisation to be focused upon, e.g. operations

Organisational issues and problems needing solution e.g     sustainability

Internal/external environment issues

Key stakeholders

Interests of these stakeholders

Benefits of your project for them

Any other factors

Explain how you intend to undertake research into the key problem areas identified in the rich picture by explaining the followings:

The research proposal should:

State your reasons for carrying out research in this topic

State the aims of your research

Provide a brief review of the relevant literature on your topic culminating in the research questions to which you will be seeking answers

Discuss the method(s) you will use in order to find the answers to those research questions

Discuss the context and population of your study and how you will select them

Discuss how you propose to analyse your data

Provide an overview of the chapters in your dissertation and what each chapter will contain

Provide a timetable (GANTT Chart) which you will follow in order to ensure you can submit your dissertation on time.

Further notes:

Give relevant real life practical examples that you know about or have read about in journals, case studies, newspapers, books and/or    the Internet.

Use relevant references throughout the assignment and provide a list   of these at the end of the assignment, in Harvard referencing style.

The word limit for both titles is 2000 words in total. A penalty may       apply if you go over the word limit so please consult the latest        edition of the Student Handbook.

Margins left and right: 3 cm

Margins top and bottom: 3 cm

Number the pages

Left and right margins fully justified

Use Harvard referencing style

You should also include a coversheet at the front of your assignment (as per instructions provided on the next page from the postgraduate office)
