how the drug interacts with the neurotransmitters in the brain. P

Recreational drugs are prevalent in the college scene. The chapter on biological foundations of behavior discusses the importance of the neurotransmitters that carry neural messages. These drugs can enhance the effects of some neurotransmitters, by increasing the production of, or blocking the reuptake of neurotransmitters. Alternately some drugs depress or reduce the effects of neurotransmitters by blocking the receptors or decreasing their production. The title of this assignment is from a commercial about drug use and brain effects from the 80s. I have included it below. Please watch it prior to doing the assignment.

Now that you know more about neurons and neurotransmitters, I would like you to consider how drugs affect our brains and functioning.

Use one of the search engines (preferably psych articles) on our school library web site ( http://www.pasadena.edu/library/ ) to get information about how recreational drugs affect the brain. Look up a drug that may have been used by your peers or family members at some point. Make sure that you use sources that are peer reviewed. These are professional writers, writing for professional readers in scholarly journals like Journal of Abnormal Psychology. Note that magazines like Psychology Today are NOT scholarly and peer reviewed. While you might read (and reference) an article from there, they do not count toward your scholarly source requirement.

Your research paper should be at least three full pages, double spacedand should respond to all of the issues below. The text of the document only is included in the three full pages, the reference page will be the 4th page, and you should use at least 2 peer reviewed sources. The paper may be longer, it may not be shorter. Citations and references should be in APA style.

  1. Discuss your findings about how the drug interacts with the neurotransmitters in the brain. Please make sure that you include citations for the sources. Please make sure that you write your paper in your own words.
  2. How does the drug you studied affect memory? Discuss both the long term and short term memory effects.
  3. What happens when you stop taking the drug? What are the short term and long term effects of taking this drug.
  4. Does it have addictive properties? If so, how do the addictive properties evidence themselves.
  5. Finally conduct an in depth critical analysis of the personality and functionality impact of the drug use on those who you know that have been affected by the drug, or on what you had heard about the drug in the past.
  6. Turnitin score no higher than 10%

Rspnd to this discussion with 250 words APA cite and ask a question.

1- The Risk Unit is responsible for evaluating loss exposures, assessing liability, handling claims, promoting internal controls and developing effective safety and health programs.

  • Other managers must provide information necessary for the risk manager to review and identify loss exposures.
  • Supervisors must be aware of their role in the prevention of loss and be accountable to follow procedures, attend risk control meetings, and, when appropriate, provide any recommended training.

2-  professionals with clinical experience have been the most dominant leaders of safety programs in the health care industry, but clinical knowledge is not the only prerequisite for understanding and addressing safety and health exposures. Organizational leadership as a whole can play a major role in educating and motivating employees to perform their jobs safely and balance efforts to prevent employee injuries while also preventing patient harm.

3-  Workers’ Compensation has fast become a leading cost factor in business insurance programs.Premiums are at an all-time high within many business classes and the indirect costs associated with employee injuries are often two to three times the premium. Many businesses are left feeling helpless in controlling these costs and do not realize the level of control they can have.

Respond to this discussion 250 words APA cite and ask a question

). What are the responsibilities of the risk manager in workers’ compensation?

A risk manager should identify, evaluate, and mitigate the possible risk exposures from various sources in the organization. One such risk is the ‘Employee Risks’. This type of risk is concerned with the equity and equality of the benefits given to the employees. This includes evaluation of the benefits and compensation from different legal premises including the EEOC, ADA, and so forth. A risk manager is to inspect and prevent the possible occurrence of the violation and report that to the top management so that any issue related to worker compensation and benefit does not lead to a severe penalty to the organization.

2). What role does employee safety play in risk management?

Employee safety has a significant role where risk management is concerned. If the work environment is not safe, there will be risk of having a significant number of minor and major accidents. These accidents’ cause the organization’s efficiency to be decreased due to the injury.  This may even increase cost for caring for the injured employee. Additionally, there is always a chance of getting severely penalized in monetary terms when any non-conformity is found in safety audits done by external organizations. These losses can be directly imposed or can occur indirectly. Therefore, employee safety is one of major emphasis on risk management.

3). What can the risk management team to do ensure the risks of workers’ compensation is properly managed?

There are two classes of activities on the broad level which the risk management group can perform

  • The pre-loss activities
  • The post-loss activities.

The pre-loss activities will incorporate elimination, prevention and safety. The post-loss activities incorporate control, claim management, and subsidizing for covering the money related loss assuming any.

I will pay 100.00 dollars for the following two part question which is self-explanatory.  I have provide the necessary article for review.

Unit I Article Critique

For this assignment, you will read an article that discusses interviewing techniques, and you will then apply what you have learned by creating your own set of interview questions.

Oliphant, G. C., Hansen, K., & Oliphant, B. J. (2008). A review of a telephone-administered behavior-based interview technique. Business Communication Quarterly, 71(3), 383-386.

Part I: After reading the article, summarize the purpose of the study, and then answer the questions below.

What are the authors’ main points for conducting the study?

Do you agree with the authors’ findings?

What evidence from additional sources supports your opinion?

What are the reasons employers use the employment interview to fill job openings?

How effective do you think behavior-based interviews that are conducted via telephone are?

Briefly describe the main features of equal employment laws, and tell how this article demonstrates these features.

Part II: Using the knowledge you have accumulated throughout this unit, develop a minimum of five (but no more than eight) non-discriminatory interview questions that you would ask when conducting a telephone interview. These questions should be listed on the last page of your critique.

Use the guidelines below to prepare your article critique.

Parts I and II combined must be at least three pages in length.

Summarize the article on page one. Identify the main topic or question.

Identify the intended audience.

Think critically about the article and how it applies to the course when answering the questions.

Organize the material logically by using smooth transitions and by grouping similar material together.

Submit Parts I and II as a single document. Format your article critique using APA style. Use your own words, and avoid plagiarism. At least one source other than the article must be used. All sources used must be referenced; any paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations in APA format.

Looking at the descriptives (first information), do you see differences in the mean alcohol contents for the three levels of quality? Explain.

Review the SPSS output file, which reports the results of the between-group (independent group) one-way ANOVA to see if the mean alcohol by volume (%) of the beer differs as a function of quality of the brand as rated by a beer expert (in 2012). Answer the following questions based on your observations of the SPSS output file:

  1. Looking at the descriptives (first information), do you see differences in the mean alcohol contents for the three levels of quality? Explain.
  2. Looking at the Test for Homogeneity of Variances (Levene Statistic), is it reasonable to proceed with the ANOVA? Is the assumption met, or violated? How do you know?
  3. Looking at the results of the ANOVA, is there a significant difference in the mean alcohol content for beers in the three quality groups? How do you know? Write the results in the following format: F(df value) = ___, p value = ______.
  4. The pairwise post hoc tests indicate which quality groups’ means are statistically significantly different for the others. Using the results of the Tukey HSD post hoc test, what two quality rating groups had significantly different mean alcohol by volume levels? How do you know?

traditional expectations for men and women in dating relationships and sexual behavior

Review the articles, “’Double Crap!’ Abuse and Harmed Identity inFifty Shades of Grey”, “’Where Have All the Good Men Gone?’ Gendered Interactions in Online Dating”, and “Tinder and the Dawn of the ‘Dating Apocalypse’.”The assignment (3–5 pages): Discuss what have been the traditional expectations for men and women in dating relationships and sexual behavior according to the Week’s Resources and your own research. Then, discuss how these roles may be affected by the current popularity of online dating sites and images of sexuality portrayed in current literature and other media forms. Explain how these changing roles may impact individuals and society. Discuss your thoughts on whether these changing roles will lead to an increase or decrease in gender differences in intimate relationships, and why or why not.

Environmental and Genetic Impact on Fetal Development

Environmental and Genetic Impact on Fetal DevelopmentBoth environmental and genetic influences impact fetal development. Some substances (e.g., folic acid, hormones, etc.) have the biggest influence at sensitive periods during gestation. Early in gestation, when neurological development is at its peak, folic acid is most important. Hormones, such as androgen and estrogen, are necessary for external genital differentiation between 9 and 12 weeks of gestation. Prenatal alcohol exposure, however, can impact fetal growth at any time during gestation. On the other hand, environmental influences such as maternal genetics, nutrition, health, and immunization can have a positive impact on fetal development, mitigating the impact of substances and other negative influences. In addition to environmental influences, you must also consider the impact of genetic influences. Genes determine not only an individual’s physical features at birth—they also contribute to hormonal processes throughout the lifespan. The interaction of environmental influences and genetic influences impacts the development of a fetus. For this Discussion, you will examine environmental and genetic influences on fetal development. To prepare for this Discussion: Select one genetic influence and one environmental influence on fetal development and think about how these influences might impact each other.By Day 4Post a brief description of the genetic influence and the environmental influence you selected. Then, explain how the environmental influence might positively or negatively affect the development of a fetus with the genetic influence you selected. Be specific and provide examples. Use your Learning Resources to support your post. Use proper APA format and citations.

Memory, Cognition, and Cognitive Neuroscience

Discussion: Memory, Cognition, and Cognitive NeuroscienceDuring the late 1960s and early 1970s, cognitive psychology researchers conducted studies that offered new information about how memory is stored and processed. Findings suggested that memory is first encoded based on sensory data from the environment (sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell), moved to short-term memory, where it can be easily retrieved, and, when rehearsed (i.e., repeated thinking about the memory), moved to long-term memory, where it is stored and can be retrieved at a later date (Atkinson & Shiffrin, 1968; Craik & Lockhart, 1972).The basic structural information about memory that arose from these early studies, along with the emergence of brain imaging technology, has led to major advancements in our understanding of cognition and cognitive neuroscience. For example, there is a body of literature on the association between PTSD and memory dysfunction. Traumatic memories are thought to be encoded differently than other memories, which helps explain symptoms such as flashbacks, nightmares, and anxiety. In addition, experiencing a traumatic event and then consistently reliving it through flashbacks and nightmares can damage the hippocampus, the area of the brain responsible for memory encoding, leading to deficits in short-term memory (Hays, VanElzakker, & Shin, 2012; MacIntosh & Whiffen, 2005). Fortunately, exciting new research on neuroplasticity suggests that the brain is malleable and that it is possible to reverse the damage to certain parts of the brain (Kays, Hurley, & Taber, 2012).In this discussion, you will examine other studies on memory and consider how the findings contribute to our understanding of cognition and cognitive neuroscience.References: Atkinson, R.
