Disability Interviews

Directions: Please review the following components of this assignment.

  • Students will interview 3 persons without disabilities and 1 person with a disability. This person can be a relative, friend, or stranger (not encouraged). The interview must be conducted in person. Students will then write a 2-3 page summary of the interview(s).
  • Questions to be asked of people without a disability: (1) what does disability mean to you; (2) what would you think and how would you feel if you acquired a disability; (3) do you have any friends/family/acquaintances who have a disability;
  • Questions to be asked of person with a disability: (1) what does disability mean to you; (2) what would you want people without disabilities to know regarding disability
  • Prepare a 2-3 page write-up on the information that you have gathered [note: you should prepare follow-up questions to ask as well]. Each paper will consist of responses that you received and any trends that you noticed across the interview participants.The paper will also include a write-up on what you had learned as a result of completing the activity.Only use the first name in your write-up.
