discussion question how is your household a workplace

In what ways is your household a workplace? Consider goods and services, management, finances, maintenance, communications, human resources, labor negotiations, your degree of commitment, emotional climate, skills you use, and functions you perform. Does your household respect the rights of its members? Care for the natural environment?

My household is similar to a workplace in a few ways, more especially because I live with a family of 4 an elderly couple and their granddaughters (my landlords daughters) who are my age but they are more like really bad frat brothers than roommates or coworkers. Some examples are the elderly couple that live downstairs, I often go out of my way to do things for them such as cooking, cleaning, before COVID-19 I ran many errands for them but unfortunately I am high risk, and other light care taking tasks that are challenging for them or whatever they ask for help with however they are both from another time and culture, I often remind myself this because the gentlemen often expresses sexism towards me and his granddaughters the lady often tries to enforce barriers on different things although she is mostly bed bound in her room but her son (my landlord) reassures me everything is fair game and I am appreciated for what I go out of my way to do so I suppose he would be human resources. I do inventory on all my own goods and often share when my roommates need something that I have. My finances are rent and necessities and I handle them myself. My commitment is simply out of the kindness of my heart, I could only do for myself and not worry for the elders simply because I pay rent but I enjoy making things easier for them. Some skills I use are patience, financial skills, maintenance, many communication skills or public relations. My household does not fully care for the rights of others, some days are better than others but enforcing healthy boundaries sure does help.

Cynder,

In my household is considered as a work place because we all of some type of jobs that we all need to do it is a very scheduled day. I pretty much control the financial part of the house and on top of that we all have really great communication skills when it comes to anything that needs to be changed around. It pretty much runs as a meeting. I do believe that my household really likes that everyone has something to do when it is in full force. Sometimes things can be challenging when there is a disagreement, but it will get solved when everyone comes to some type of agreement. I think that with the structure of everyone participating with anything that is going on it makes a very easy environment when we all can turn to one another and explain.
