General Instructions for Assignment #3:
- Choose an aspect of human diversity that interests you and that you know very little about. Describe the impact of diversity, discrimination and oppression on you, your development and your worldview. Some examples of aspects of human diversity include: Racial or Ethnic Identity, Gender issues such as sex role identification or stereotypes, Religious or spiritual diversity, Disability status.
- Look for 2 references–about the diversity issue you’ve chosen and consider how this issue would affect an adolescent. If they are articles, read them in their entirety. If they are books, you may have to choose portions that are most important to your initial questions. If they are films, you must view them. You must also undertake library research on your own on the topic. Reference these sections appropriately.
- Identify and write 5 questions you want addressed in the paper making sure to cover topics adolescents may face. For Example: “What are the academic expectations of a Japanese teenager?” Or “What may be some issues transgender adolescent may encounter within their family?†Or “How are teenagers diagnosed with autism perceived within their peer group?†Note, these questions should be open-ended allowing you to write a response.

Paper Requirements:
Length: minimum of 3 (complete) pages
Document Format: 12 pt Times New Roman font, double-spaced, 1 inch margins
Layout of Paper:
- Title, your name, course number and major.
- Introduction to the topic.
- Questions you want answered in the paper.
- Responses based on material and references you have read/ viewed.
- Lastly, write a set of three (3) questions that you will want to probe in the future.
