E-Resource Folio (2250 words) All students will construct a resource folio containing materials suitable for teaching health and physical education (HPE) topics. Those students in the primary stream will include and critique materials/resources suitable for use with to children in the junior primary years of schooling. Those students in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) stream will include and critique materials/resources suitable for use with to children in the junior primary years of schooling and/or pre-school. The levels of schooling and/or pre-schooling the folio is aimed at should be identified on the first page of the submission. This e-folio will also include: 1. A position statement. 2. 6 x resources with a critique. There is to be 1 resource for 6 topics listed below The e-resource folio will be submitted through ‘Mahara’. The structure of this e-folio is as follows: Page 1 Brief Introduction Identify year level of schooling and/or pre-schooling 6 broad topic areas resources address Position Statement (500-600 words) ? Students will draw on course readings, text, Australian Curriculum: HPE, and relevant academic articles to construct a position statement about the importance of quality HPE to junior primary students/pre-school children). Specifically students will discuss the contribution of HPE to a child’s education, health and wellbeing’. They will also identify and discuss developmentally appropriate pedagogical (teaching/learning) practices for promoting engagement, participation and learning by all students. Practices for inclusive playful, creative and active teaching/learning should be discussed. Opportunities to develop Fundamental Movement Skills across a range of movement experiences, and thematic approaches that encourage the integration of movement across the curriculum may also be discussed. Resources, descriptions & critiques (pages 2 & 3) Resource description & critique Six resource (3 x health & 3 x PE) will be accompanied by a table that includes descriptive information and locates the resource in Australian Curriculum: Health & Physical Education (& may be The Arts for some). The table also includes a critique of the resource/materials in relation to: Intellectual rigour associated with learning experiences, connections to student life-worlds, catering for student diversity, and use in supportive learning environments. Resources may include: You tube clips, Apps, Websites, Books, Pamphlets & Journal articles. Page 2 ? Three health resources be presented on page 2. Students will include a scanned image, youtube or web link for each resource and an accompanying table that includes, descriptive information and critique. ? The three resources with critiques will be selected from the following health related topic areas o Medicines o Food and Nutrition o Mental Health & Wellbeing o Relationships and Sexuality (body parts, growth & development, people who are important to them, interacting & relating to others, assertive behaviours) o Safety Page 3 ? A total of three PE resource with critiques will be presented on page 3. There is to be one resource and critique from each of the following three physical activity topic areas o Active Play and minor games (imaginative play, small group games, ATSI games) o Fundamental Motor Skills (locomotor, manipulation, stability) o Rhythmic and expressive movement activities (creative movement, movement exploration, dance, rhythmic gymnastics, educational gymnastics, circus skills) The critique table/ template will be used to identify for each resource: a) What it is (Identify name, reference details & indication of type of resource) b) Focus Area/Topic from AC: HPE c) Location in AC: HPE (Strand, Sub-strand, Year level Content descriptor code, General Capabilities) a. ECE students will locate resources in the Early Years Frame work (Belonging, Being & Becoming) d) Possibilities for integration or use within a thematic approach e) Who it is to be used by and indicate why you think so (ie students, teachers, both or parents/care givers). f) Why it is beneficial (How might the resource be meaningful to students, connect to their life-world experiences, relate to them and their lives and therefore included in the folio?) g) How the resource would be used so as to promote academic rigour (what is the knowledge, skills, capacities that could be developed?). h) Limits, considerations and or modifications so as to recognise student/participant diversity, and supportive learning environments (Indicate what you might need to consider so as to recognise student/participant diversity, inclusion and supportive learning environments.
