24-Hour Cultural Analysis
Over a 24-hour period this week, keep a list of all the times you encounter the broad theme of “disability” (film, TV, sports, entertainment, social events, newspaper, literature, entering and exiting buildings, using transportation systems, spontaneous conversations of others, our schools, or conversations of schooling currently, etc.).
(Length: Your typed list and three paragraphs synthesizing your thoughts/ impressions about a.) how we ‘encounter’ disability, b.) how disability is represented, and c.) what messages about disability are circulated throughout our culture –2 pages/double spaced. Please label each section.

Film Review
Review any film. It can be one watched on TV, DVD, Streaming, or at the movies; old or new; American or not. List (a) full title and year of film, and in your analysis (b) discuss ways in which the disabled body and able-bondedness (normalcy) are represented, (c) and the messages these representations send to society at large, (d) any questions or thoughts you have in relation to what you saw. Mark each section separately.
