evaLUATION

The topics below are prompts for each column. Please do not repeat the topics, just provide the appropriate data extracted from the studies.

  • Citation – author, year, title
  • Conceptual Framework – theoretical basis for study
  • Design/Method – Indicate design & briefly describe what was done in the study
  • Sample/Setting – number, characteristics, attrition rate & why
  • Major Variables – Independent variables, dependent variables (e.g. IV = ?, DV = ?)
  • Measurement – What scales were used to measure the outcomes variables (e.g. name of scale, author, reliability info [Cronbach alpha])
  • Data analysis – What stats were used to answer the clinical question (i.e., all stats do not need to be put into the table)
  • Findings – Statistical findings or qualitative findings (i.e. for every statistical test you have in the data analysis column, you should have a finding)
  • Appraisal – strengths and limitations of the study, risk or harm if study interventions or findings implemented, feasibility of use in your practice; remember level of evidence + quality of evidence = strength of evidence of confidence to act
