Garrett Hardin’s “Tragedy of the Commons” describes the tendency of people to overuse publicly-owned natural resources until they are depleted. Identify a publicly owned natural resource that is in danger of being degraded or exhausted and describe how you think people could be encouraged to manage it in such a way that the “Tragedy of the Commons” could be avoided. What is an example of a different publicly-owned natural resource that would need to be managed in a different way (or would be very difficult to manage)? Why is this the case? (2 points)
