Application of a Process Tool

As we learned in our readings this week, all work in healthcare can
be evaluated using process analysis tools. Although several process
tools are available, a particular tool is often more suited to a certain
process than the others.

In Week 1, you identified and described a quality, safety, or performance improvement issue. In Week 2,
you examined the research available on the selected improvement issue.
This week, you will examine the issue using a process tool.

Week 3 Tasks

Using the assigned textbook reading in Advanced Performance Improvement in Health Care: Principles and Methods, the South University Online Library, and the Internet, write a 3–4-page paper.

Cover the following:

  • Examine the selected improvement issue using one of the process tools.
  • Give reasons for your selection of the particular tool.
  • Create a diagram for the process tool with as much detail as
    possible. (You may create the diagram in the word processor, in a
    graphics software, or scan a hand-drawn image.)
  • Provide conclusions on the use of the process tool, including
    redundancies, misunderstandings, or inefficiencies in current systems
    and possible actions to consider.

Be sure to support your statements with scholarly references and appropriate examples.
