In chapters six and seven of “Surprise Attack,” Kam discusses a number of factors (to include groupthink, the “leader” and the “expert,” organizational hierarchies, and the all too common “other” opinion) capable of pressuring analysts to modify their analysis or run the risk of being ostracized by individuals or groups. For this week’s forum, describe (1) a personal or professional instance in which you either experienced/viewed an instance of group or organizational pressures addressed by Kam; (2) the factors that contributed to pressures being exerted; and (3) a strategy that could have been employed to mitigate or prevent the pressures from being exerted.
