In several countries in the World, people consume too much sugar. That is bad for the population health and the economy. Certain economists have proposed (as in the cigarettes) a certain tax to increase the price and reduce the quantity demanded.
Different experiments are taken place in Berkeley, California and Pennsylvania. European countries have had a mixed experience.
