How mental stigma affect peoples lives

Being mentally ill is one of the most overwhelming things an individual experiences. The thing that makes this worse is mental health stigma. This is dealing with others’ reactions to them. Stigma describes the negative attitudes held by individuals and society. Stigma is felt toward those with depression, substance use disorder, and other health challenges.

There are many dangers in stigmatizing as it increases discrimination and can decrease the self esteem of the individual. This is dealing with others’ reactions to them. Not only does it impact the individuals but it also impacts the people involved in their lives. I will be expounding on how these stigmas can affect lives and how this can be prevented.
