Post an explanation of how a specific type of childhood trauma might lead to a transcrisis state among survivors. Then, provide at least two specific examples of how survivors’ psychological and/or physical health might be affected by being in a transcrisis state.

The childhood trauma I choose for this discussion is abduction. There are approximately 350,000 child abductions a year in the US and upwards of 90% of these children do make it back home to their family (Snow, 2008). While many of these children make it back home, it doesn’t change the fact that they have been through a traumatic experience. “Numerous studies have shown that exposure to interpersonal trauma can chronically and pervasively alter social, psychological, cognitive, and biological development” (D’Andrea, 2012).

Children to have endured an abduction experience may begin to view the world differently and be more fearful in a situation they normally wouldn’t be (Snow, 2008). Projecting their emotions/expectations from what they went through with the abduction to other unrelated circumstances. One example of this could be the child being fearful of all individuals resembling their kidnapper (D’Andrea, 2012). Another example, if the child being fearful of any places that resemble the place they were abducted from (D’Andrea, 2012).
