The Good Cop: Knowing the Difference Between Lawful or Effective Policing and Rightful Policing – And Why it Matters
This article covers the concept of rightful policing in America. It deals with procedural justice and fairness of police conduct, focusing on “analyses of the differences between rightful policing, lawful policing, and efficient policing. Crime-fighting effectiveness and the laws which regulate police conduct are addressed, along with remedies, crime reduction efforts, and American constitutional law. The Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is also examined.” Not exclusive to policing, these concepts are transferable to other criminal justice agencies and should be reviewed with that orientation.
