whether or not to plan a theme on insects for the children in the
kindergarten class with whom you work?
Assignment: Part 2
- Conduct the following observation/assessments on an
infant/toddler AND a school age child who is seven years or older. These
observations can occur in any setting such as school, daycare, church,
community center, YMCA, home, park, etc. However, only assess children
you know and for whom you have permission from the parents/guardians.
- Infant/toddler-use the Observation of Infant Ways of Communicating presented in your text
- School age child- use a Story-Based Language Observation or Running Record (these can be found online)
- Provide background information on each child such as
age, family structure, home support, grade level, and other pertinent
information that may impact language development.
- Explain the procedures for administering each observation/assessment.
- Prepare a written summary of the results of each observation/assessment
- Provide five specific recommendations that a caregiver,
teacher or parent could use for enhancing language and literacy
development for each child. These should be in the form of practical
activities that are clearly explained.
The program description should be 1750-2000 words and should
include at least four (4) citations. The sections should be clearly
marked with headings so that your instructor knows which points you are
addressing. Use at least a minimum of four (4) credible references to
support your ideas and claims. Follow the guidelines for APA writing
style. The title page and references page so not count towards the
minimum word amount for this assignment.
