Literary Essay help
Assignment Instructions
Answer the following question in the
form of a short essay. Your essay should consist of at least five
paragraphs, and you should write three to five pages to fully address
the question.
Jefferson and Grant must both take a
spiritual, intellectual, and emotional journey to discover what role
they are meant to play in life. Throughout their journeys, they are
accompanied by communities, large and small, of people who either
help or hinder them as they move toward their destination. What are
these communities, and how does each help or hinder the two men? Your
analysis should also explore how the communities represent this
particular moment in American society—a society that is fractured
by issues of race.
Cite specific examples from the text in
your response. Use the notes you take and the questions you answer in
the Reading Guide and the Student Guide to help you formulate your
response.
You will hand in your completed
response on the final day of this unit.

Read the rubric on
the last page of this document. Keep the criteria listed on the
rubric in mind as you complete the writing assignment.

Complete a plan for
your essay.
Begin drafting your
paper, using your plan as a guide.
