Paper 1 answer below »

GLORY PAPER
Describe the biblical idea of glory and how it relates to a person’s calling.

Instructions

This assignment will further our understanding of the biblical idea of calling. In the context of many passages of scripture, one can see that calling is related to the particular glory God bestows on our lives, as he asks us to walk with Him to discover and reflect this glory in ever increasing ways.

Read chapters 5-6 of the textbook by Smith.

Listen to the lecture by Barkalow.

Write a 2-3 page paper describing the biblical idea of glory and how it relates to your calling, as explained by Gary Barkalow. Ensure the following components are addressed.

Define glory as you understand it from scripture and from Barkalow’s audio presentation.

Is the idea that you have a glory to your own life new to you? Do you agree with this?

Barkalow argues that the glory of your life (or the calling of your life) is a deep part of you and not any particular role, career, or position you might play. In other words, your calling (or the glory of your life that God forms in you) isn’t "out there" somewhere, waiting for you in a job, or mission, or role. Rather your calling/glory is the particular strength, splendor, and significance you bring to your world.

How does this idea impact you? Is this the way you have been taught in the past? If this way of seeing and discovering your calling is true, what does it mean to you and your own life?
