Patents essay
Search Google Patents (www.google.com/patents) or the database at the US Patent and Trademark Office (http://www.uspto.gov) for a utility patent of a product or related to automobiles. Read the patent document carefully. Only (AUTOMOBILE) related patents are acceptable. Write a 500 word or more essay about the patent you selected and was awarded between 1980 and today.
Use your own words (the way you understand the document) instead of lifting words or phrases from the patent document. Watch out for PLAGIARISM. Your essay should have 4 parts:
Part 1. Patent name, name of the person who applied for the patent, name of the patent owner, patent date, and patent number.
Part 2. In your own words, what does the product or process do? Why is it an innovation that deserves a patent.
Part 3. In your own words, what does this patent claim to do?
Part 4. Your own thoughts about the patent. Why did this patent interest you?
Attach the fist page of the actual patent document to your write up. Your essay must separate the topics into Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4. Watch out for PLAGIARISM. Plagiarism will not be tolerated. You will automatically get an (F) grade on your assignment if you plagiarize.
