The field theory of behavior has influenced and shaped how we view the behavior of individuals within the organization through motivation, innovation, social interactions, group processes, and leadership etc. “Because the organization has no independent physical reality but exists only as a socially constructed reality, and because our construction of reality is dependent on our perception of what is real, we can easily see how the organization emerges as a primary factor in evoking the behavior of people in it. This web of interaction between people and organization, and its implications for leadership, is not simple, but is powerful in influencing and shaping the behavior of people at work…” (Owen/Valesky pg. 33)

The two required articles linked below examine structural innovation which is the ability of an organization to become innovative through leadership and developing the organizational capacity of individuals to foster innovative behaviors. Considering these articles how does this emerging scholarship of organizational behavior begin to influence how you perceive your current organization in terms of its ability to adapt to new conditions and initiatives for engaging not only the internal environment but shaping partnerships in the external environment?
