powerpoint presentation for operations research course

PowerPoint Presentation Summary:

This research assignment will allow each student to address different topics/algorithms relevant to the field of Operations Research. My Research is about Graph & Network Optimization Models. A set of PowerPoint slides must be developed which should enable the audience to learn about your assigned OR topic by discussing the ‘what, why, and how’ of the topic. More specifically, your research slides must include a minimum of the following headings:

  • Introduction (what the OR topic is about),
  • Background (who made it, why/how was it developed, what is its purpose, and why is it important andrelevant),
  • Function/Functionality (description of how the method/algorithm works),
  • Examples of Algorithm/Topic (give two or more examples of how it is used in research to solve realworld problems),
  • Summary/Conclusions (summarize the topic and discuss how it could be applied to current and futureworks/situations/processes/etc.), and
  • References (full APA references listed in alphabetical order).Other Requirements:
  • The actual slide titles must be the same as those mentioned above, but be sure to also include a title slide (with your name, class, date), as well as an outline slide which follows the title slide
  • An example of how the algorithm works is required, so don’t forget to have this on the Functionality slide(s)
  • At least one to two figures (e.g., diagrams, flowcharts, etc.) are required as well. Short videos would be a plus (multimedia is always great to have), but if you do so it must be embedded into the presentation and not operated by clicking a link to a webpage
  • Also, the background slide must include information about the original creator(s) and date of when your particular algorithm/method was made, as well as including a proper APA in-text citation…and the full reference for this information must be included on the References slide.
  • Find a minimum of two peer-reviewed refereed journal articles, as well as other types of reference resources for this PowerPoint project
  • The ‘References’ slide must be 100% perfect showing all APA references used in your research…as this aspect is extremely important to your instructor because all researchers deserve credit for the development of such work! Thus, make sure it is all correct!
  • Some slide headings may require more than one slide, so simply used cont’d on any trailing slides (i.e., if ‘Background’ requires more than one slide, the following background slide(s) should be labeled as ‘Background cont’d.
  • Other Requirements:

APA Note:

Additional APA formatting information can be found at the Purdue OWL website athttp://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/06/. Again, be sure that your references are done EXACTLY as shown, or you will lose points for a missing comma or period… or even if you forget to italicize the periodical or book title, etc. Remember, formatting is a very important element when putting together your research and you should not take this important portion for granted.
