Slide 19: Project Scope Statement
The Project Scope Statement describes the project objective, the requirements and
specifications for the product, and lists the general work activities that need to be completed to
successfully meet the project objective. The Acceptance Criteria lists the conditions that must
be met for the customer to accept the delivered final product. It is important that the project
manager fully understands how the customer will test the product to determine if it is
acceptable.
A list of unique and verifiable products is included in the Project Scope Statement. Normally this
list is made up of name of the product, the manufacturer, the part or model number, and the
quantity being delivered to the project. Project Exclusions are activities that will not be the
responsibility of the project team. For example, a customer will paint the kitchen themselves
once the remodeling is complete. This would be an exclusion from the project. That is, the
project team will not be responsible to paint the kitchen.
Constraints that may restrict or limit the execution of the project are listed, as well as Technical
Requirements that lists the standards, local building codes and/or federal regulations that must
be followed during the execution of the project.
You will use this slide as a template to create the Project Scope Statement for the WIDGET
