Psychology Essay

By the end of week 8, we will be over halfway through the semester, and we will have covered the following modules:

  • Introduction/Research Methods
  • Personality
  • Biopsychology
  • Consciousness
  • Lifespan Development
  • Sensation & Perception
  • Learning
  • Memory

For this first essay assignment, discuss a minimum of three (3) different theories or pieces of research and apply them to your own life (or the life of someone you know). For example, you might discuss something you learned as a child through operant conditioning (Learning module) and how it was related to the stage of Piaget’s cognitive development you were in at that time (Lifespan Development module) as well as the underlying physiological mechanisms involved (Biopsychology module). Be creative! 🙂

You may choose any three topics of interest from the class so far, but you must connect them together. Importantly, this is a relatively short essay, so no direct quotes are allowed. You must demonstrate your own understanding of these topics… Imagine you were explaining these ideas to a friend who has never taken a psychology course. If that were the case, you wouldn’t need a direct quote, you would paraphrase in your own words to show your comprehension.

Responses should be between 500 and 1000 words. The minimum word count is to ensure you provide enough detail to demonstrate a general understanding. The maximum word count is to ensure that you keep your discussion on point. Formatting with APA or MLA style is not required, but grading will consider spelling, grammar, and basic organization, so proofread your assignment carefully.

Avoid plagiarism! Canvas will automatically scan your paper and compare it to millions of Internet sources. If plagiarism is detected, Canvas also indicates what source the information came from.
