Global influences and different generational perspectives of leadership:

Leadership is defined as the person that oversees a group of others or an organization. Throughout the years, leadership has changed. Global influences have played a major in what leaders and leading was. In the early days of Kings and Queens leaders where chosen due to blood lines, while this continues to exist today in some societies, most leadership positions are given on merit or accomplishment by an individual.

Identify the differences between leadership and management:

While they may present in a similar fashion and many people will often have confusion over what the actual differences of someone in a leadership role versus someone in a management role. It is evident that the role of leadership has been around longer than management as no history books made mention of some powerful warlord or king was the manager of the group. Leaders are those people that lead by influencing and motivating others for change or a cause. Whereas the management ideology came in to being during the industrial revolution, when there was the need to have competent persons in a position of authority to direct or oversee the organizations workers to ensure uniformity and standards are met (Northouse, 2019).

Why are both qualities are important:

Each one of these roles has its place in society and are mutually intertwined. They both have and perform the job of getting a job done. There is a need to ensure that when a task is assigned it will be carried out according to a preset of plans in order to accomplish a goal usually profit or financially driven. Leadership on the other hand would appear to more people orientated towards reaching others through some emotional appeal to inspire them to complete a task or goal (Northouse, 2019). While they go about using different methods the result should be the same.
