Role of Military in Border Security
This is an important topic, and I have one primary follow up question for you this week. As this is a course in Homeland Security and Homeland Defense, one issue involving both areas is our border. So my follow up question is: other than the Coast Guard, does the military have a role in border security in the United States? I would suggest the below articles by Mason and Tussing as good resources to help answer that question.

350 words Answer preview……….. The Coast Guard is the main branch of the military that has been specialized and authorized by the legislature to work within the borders of the United States. The Coast Guard secures the waters around the united states and prevents invasion by foreign forces as well as the entry of drugs and other illegal material by the seas (Lowenberg, 2005). However, with time, it has become essential to incorporate the military into the internal security of the United States of America due to the increasing crossing of terrorists and contraband material.
