Here is my thesis and topic sentences.

Thesis : In “A Rose for Emily” the author portrays the central character, Emily as a stubborn woman, too ignorant to accept the present in her life and clings to tradition which drives her into isolation, a condition that she creates for herself.

Topics: Ignorance, Tradition, and Isolation

Topic sentence 1, Independence: The sole character Emily is drastically molded by the desires of her father to grow in a lonely state alongside protection. It is through the qualities of her father, that Miss Emily lives in desolation and privacy thus also restricting to accommodate future changes.

Topic sentence 2, Overprotection: Loneliness is as a result of the father’s protection from relationships with the desolation which comes to reality after the death of the protector (father).

Topic sentence 3: Moral rigidity: Desolation and privacy takes control as the Miss Emily fails to interact with the townspeople leading to a wistful, miserable and isolated life. Finally, she faces isolation from the society which fails to recognize her identity either socially or morally.
