Create a Strategic Plan-Module 6 (100 points)

For this assignment, you will create a strategic plan for a nursing service of your choice. Some examples include; a new short stay nursing unit, a new cardiopulmonary rehabilitation unit, an existing medical-surgical nursing unit. Your strategic plan should be well written in a manner that would be presentable to the Board of Directors at a healthcare organization. This is not a formal APA paper. Rather, make this project visually appealing in an effort to also sell to the reader your plan.  Review the strategic plan of your organization and use that as a template for the format.  Graphics and tables are required.  The strategic plan must include at minimum the following:

 

  1. A SWOT analysis identifying the organizational competencies and strategic advantages
  2. A mission statement
  3. A vision statement
  4. A summary of strategic thinking and key stakeholders as identified in the strategic plan for the organization
  5. Strategies evident in the plan (corporate-level, divisional-level, organizational-level, and/or unit-level
  6. A brief competitive analysis
  7. A summary of appropriate directional strategies
  8. A summary of appropriate strategic alternatives
  9. A summary of appropriate value-adding services
  10. Recommendations to ensure the future success of the organization

Section 1: Summary of the Issue

Write a 2- to 3-page summary of the strategic plan issue. Include the following in your summary:

  1. The strategic plan issue and how the issue’s need is evident in the group or organization
  2. The mission, vision, and values of the group or organization
  3. Background, including:
    • Data from historical analysis and forecasting to support the need for the plan
    • Evidence from the literature to support the need for the plan
    • Previous attempts by various individuals and groups to address this issue
    • Stakeholders that should be included in the strategic planning process

Section 2: SWOT Analysis

Write a 2- to 3-page summary that conveys the results of your SWOT analysis. Include:

  1. Two organizational strengths
  2. Two organizational weaknesses
  3. Two market opportunities
  4. Two environmental threats
  5. An explanation of whether the organizational threats and/or weaknesses may also pose opportunities
