Introduction: The assessment is based on two tasks, (1) a group [1] presentation and (2) an individual report, on any current international water management issue that you choose as a group and agree with your tutor (Conflicts of The River Nile) Presentation: You will prepare a 15 minute group PowerPoint presentation exploring the challenges and solutions surrounding the selected area of interest. Overall the presentation will account for 30% of the assignment marks. Presentations will take place on a date to be confirmed towards the end of the semester. Report: You will also submit an individual written report, the purpose of which is to undertake reflective exploration with appropriate theoretical / conceptual background of the chosen subject of the presentation (or perhaps part of it). This will allow detailed inquiry into the topic, developing research skills and the ability to develop a critical analysis of the issues. You may cross-reference from the report to the presentation and vice versa where appropriate. The written assignment must not exceed 2200 words in length. The report will account for 70% of the assignment marks. Assessment criteria: Presentation and report will be assessed using the following criteria: • Explanation and understanding of the issues associated with the chosen topic: 30% • Reflective analysis and appraisal of challenges and approaches to their solution: 40% • Quality of expression (visual / written respectively): 15% • Presentation (including referencing): 15%
